Lutherans, some Anglican and Episcopalian churches, many Unitarian churches, some Methodists. Heaps of them, really.  And that is just among Christian religions.

First time I saw it, it read as “Lah-tinks”. It’s pretty flawed. I think it comes from a theoretically-well-intentioned place but it just comes off wrong and a little bit of colonialism, “we know what’s best for your culture, here ya go” sort of thing.

You pronounce it “latin-ex”, and it was coined by Spanish speaking people. Guess what? Spanish IS NOT natively a Latin American language, it’s a colonial language from Europe. How do the people who say we should use “latinx” think we should pronounce it?

I grew up in Spain, and this Latinx word is not only idiotic (there is no way to pronounce it), but a clear example of US cultural colonization: STOP messing with our words and grammar.

Come on, person! Get with the program. No one can pass up an opportunity to use the word “latinx.” It combines two things that everyone loves: identity politics and the letter “x.”
