Well, they did find the proximate cause, which was that the liquid oxygen pump on one of the engines blew up. However, they couldn’t tell if it blew up from poor design, poor workmanship (pump was built in 1970s USSR), or Foriegn Object Debris (FOD; some other part of the rocket falling off and cloging the pump).
