Lets see, making batteries had little to no profit margin so we sent it over to China and Korea. They spent years developing a very efficient process to squeeze fractions of a cent out of each battery they sold.

So we are learning the technology from China. That sounds like a good thing to me. If war breaks out, then we keep the technology but stop paying them royalties. Sounds like we got them by the short hairs.
You’d think we would have learned our lessons from the cold war. Anti communist hysteria was stupid back then and anti Chinese hysteria is stupid now. Why the hell should we turn down good jobs and cheap batteries because the Chinese also make that style of battery? I just don’t understand the level of xenophobia.…
It was spearheaded by the Senator from Florida, so not really surprised. This is right up their alley, as far as rallying up the right wing with hate and distrust of anything they don’t like.
The “dream” of autonomous construction equipment, however, isn’t a dream of improving lives. It’s just a dream of improving profits.
if a job can be automated, it should be automated. keeping jobs around for the sake of keeping jobs around is called busy work. it’s not rewarding and all it does is drag out the late-stage. let’s just keep this moving.
You realize that’s a major selling point for the construction company, right?
There should be an immediate punishment for using the horn before using the brakes. Like if you’re in a situation where brakes are called for, but you use the horn and just creep up waay to fast/aggressively on the person who’s mortally offended you by turning/moving too slow, you should get an immediate punishment…
A growing number of human drivers don’t have a ounce of that either, for example: Florida. Just, Florida.
Unfortunately, if you don’t have enough situational awareness to realize that the cops are try to get you to pull over, you should NOT be driving. And, while tasing is both “bad” and, given the clarity of 20/20 hindsight, unnecessary, it still beats the alternatives of bullets or a PIT maneuver.
Yeah that’s the eternal debate. More boost = more failure. Luckily Audi bought a supercharger that they tuned to about 70% of its tolerance, and a really strong block. The tuning programs increase that closer to 100% but still don’t exceed tolerances. These mods are ultra-popular and if they were blowing up engines…
I agree. One of the things we’ve long said about ending police chases is that (most of the time) they should be able to track the suspect in a number of other ways, and this would be one. Seems like a very useful thing if it actually works.
Really? Price is to high for sure and I never buy a modded car but as far as the platform, My daily driver is just about this exact car, bought new, it has shockingly been the most trouble-free and reliable German car I have ever owned. I have had (and have) a ton of Porsches, also Audi’s, BMW’s and VW..some other…
Not really sure how you can coherently take “end police chases” as a policy position (a reasonable one, by the way), recognize that a huge number of cars involved in illicit activity in NYC have fake paper plates, and then also reject any means of tracking these vehicles as government overreach.
For the sake of my nearly identical 2014 S4's value I wish it weren’t, but this is definitely overpriced by $6-8k.
An important list, as the number one thing that keeps most people from going full EV is the lack of horsepower.
Agreed. Violating a rental agreement does not mean you “stole” the car. You might owe them penalties/damages. Like you mention, I think whether a notification was provided or not is going to be a big factor.
