Most games are perfectly playable out of the box with no internet connection. Sure, they’ll have patches but it’s rare for the patch to be absolutely required in order for the game to not be horribly broken. You’ll have some bugs, but typically the game still mostly functions well.

The price thing is the biggest issue for me. Physical copies drop in price much faster than digital ones, and usually stay dropped.
