It looks like it won't be out in English until next year. Good hear that it'll be soon, though.

I didn't know The Labyrinth of Spirits was out! The Shadow of the Wind is one of my all-time favorite books.

It was a crowded field this year so I'm not nearly as offended as when he was overlooked for Richard II. But the Rampling categorization makes no sense. It also would have been nice to see Jim Broadbent get some recognition because he was great in that.

Florence Foster Jenkins did a lot better than I was expecting. And Charlotte Rampling was definitely not the lead of London Spy. I'm also amused by the random nomination for The Dresser.

A lot of people have trouble with the beginning of Kavalier and Clay. Once it gets to New York, it picks up considerably.

I've loved all of the Ann Patchett I've read so far. Bel Canto and State of Wonder are my two favorites although they are very different in subject matter from Commonwealth.

I just finished Moonglow, Michael Chabon's latest and I loved it. I generally like his stuff and didn't even hate Telegraph Avenue which a I know a lot of people did. But this, I think, is his best work since Kavalier and Clay and is definitely what I would recommend next for anyone who liked that.

BRITISH PANEL SHOWS:

Yeah, I was really hoping they would cover it since they covered the first series. It doesn't quite reach the heights of Ben Whishaw's Richard II and it's more battle heavy than the previous plays. But there are some great performances from Cumberbatch, Hugh Bonneville, Tom Sturridge, and especially Sophie Okonedo.

I know Consol Energy Centre sounded weird at first but I eventually got used to it. But PPG Paints Arena just sounds so stupid. It's like a headline in a very boring newspaper.

I mentioned this in WOT but Colbert did a great segment on Pizzagate. Apparently he's part of the conspiracy too: https://www.youtube.com/wat… (Needless to say, avoid the comments.)

Either Men at Arms or Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett. It's been a while since I read them so I can definitively rank one above the other.

I thought making the two villains turn out to be the same was odd and not really necessary. Although I think it's because I loved the fact that the two main characters came from such completely different backgrounds. So having this direct connection I felt spoiled that a bit.

The loose end is Sophia who is still sick

It's a great lineup this year. I wasn't sure about Romesh the first few times I saw him — but then Tree Wizard happened: https://www.youtube.com/wat…

Most of the books I read this year were written before 2016. So I'm going to emphasize the "finally" part of the question and mention the ones I've been meaning to read for a while.

BRITISH PANEL SHOWS:

Was there anyone here who doesn't have relatives or co-workers on the other end of the political spectrum? Were there any websites that covered the election that weren't overrun with comments by the alt-right? I understand the importance of trying to understand the other side but the idea that the left was never in

So what you're saying is, if you change a song to make it worse, it ends up sounding worse. Very clever…
