The natsec community is broad, including many scholars and experts of color. I follow a number on Twitter and elsewhere, some of which are more hawkish on certain issues and some of which aren’t. There is consensus on some narrow issues in the field, but it’s no monolith.

I won’t go so far as to say they’re viewed as less than human (for the most part) but they (NatSec) don’t view South Americans or Africans or Muslims etc. as potential Americans in any real sense of the term.
