It’s the same “I got mine, screw everybody else,” mentality of all the Trump cultists. Michigan “conservatives” (regressives) are removing the term “common good” from the state’s social studies curriculum. Apparently that concept is “too partisan” and offends conservative sensibilities—despite the fact that multiple

It won’t make any difference. Liberals know it’s not true and will vote for Democrats, while conservatives don’t care it’s not true and will vote for Republicans. The only thing that matters is turnout, and I can’t see this issue sending anyone to the polls who wasn’t already intending to go.

Well, if people actually come out and vote, we can kind of decide whomever we want so long as they’re running.

Seriously. Fight in the fucking primary. And if you lose, be an adult and support the winner in the general. Taking your ball and going home is for children.

Because in our current polical system, big monumental changes are difficult to implement all at once? Because the Democratic party is so fragmented and segmented along the left-wing spectrum that you kinda have to be nuts to assume that getting huge, sweeping changes wouldn’t be met with some pushback?

Wanting to cool heels after a contentious primary is, ultimately, probably a good thing, even if there are some shady reasons on the part of the DNC for doing so this time around.

The idea that White conservatives will pick healthcare over “stigginit” is beyond delusional.

Oh my fucking God, I am so sick of this fucking bullshit. They moved the convention. There are some valid reasons for it. But no, let’s turn this into yet another opportunity to shit all over them and act like this is literally the only thing they did or will do between 2016 and 2020. Jesus fucking Christ.

Show us on this seating chart of the Waffle House where the Black Man scared you.

100% this - plus the weird aside in defense of Jill Stein? This Jill Stein?

For sure it’ll be because somebody “put their finger on the scale” by forcing millions more people to vote for the other person over the course of 50 states and six months.

I mean, setting aside the center vs left debate, this is a good idea. The reasoning behind it is sound. I do think this is more about pushing down challenges from the left than the stated reasons, but the stated reasons are valid.

Trump, Fox News, conservative talk radio, and the modern Republican party are fucking bloodhounds. The House Majority Leader is trying to derail the Mueller investigation using a couple of text messages from FBI agents as pretext. They spent 8 years eviscerating Obama and Hillary Clinton over the most minor of issues.

This is just never going to stop, huh? An anodyne story about the convention being moved up for perfectly innocent reasons turns into yet another bitchfest about the 2016 primaries. Just pure uncut Splinter. I have to say, I do love the preview of the whining you will be doing if your preferred candidate doesn’t win

You know how you can have a thought, and before you say or write it where someone else can see it, you just run through it one more time to see if it’s worth saying? You should do that more, then people won’t have to read silly things like this as often.

Sadly, the border/rights issue isn’t unique to this administration. Constitutional rights have been arbitrarily waived in the so-called “border-zone” since at least W was in office.

Every time I’ve interacted with someone from CBP I’ve come away thinking, “What a fucking asshole!” I once took my son on a roadtrip around New Mexico and got stopped at a checkpoint and the agent started barking at my son, “Is this your father?!” and made him really uncomfortable. We were by Truth or Consequences,

Not hard to get behind the message that CBP is abusing its power. But, of course, there are numerous problems with how you present this:

And on top of that, they are also directly competing against the U.S. military, in particular the Army. The military provides better pay, educational opportunities, potential locations, and doesn’t require a polygraph for most positions. Furthermore, the military’s reputation is much better than any of these

The problem with police departments isn’t police departments. It’s the type of person who wants that job. I’ll nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize if you can figure out how to attract better candidates.
