I think the knee jerk reaction you are seeing is because typically it does not end well when the studio starts initiating re-shoots, in most cases they make it worse.
As usual, corporate executives meddling in the creative process thinking they know better than the creative people.
I agree. I understand what Lucas said about The Force Awaken being the same old thing when he first say it. It’s A New Hope 2: Everything Old is New Again. There was nothing daring and honestly the story was thin, and kind of stupid.
Did you not see Ep VII.....they already have
I wanted it to be a war movie too. I really wanted to see the “Wars” part of “Star Wars”, but looks like that won’t happen. Instead they’ll be changing the theme of the movie to typical fantasy. I really hope reshoots doesn’t mean they’re adding Jedi for the sake of Jedi.
Pretty sure that was clear after The Force Awakens.
Seems to me it feels like a war movie because they set out to make a war movie.
But the whole point of the non-Episode films anthology was that it’d be stories that we wouldn’t normally see because of the constraints on the main run.
do you think Disney would EVER have allowed The Empire Strikes Back to be made on their dime?
Did these Disney Executives even watch Star Wars: A New Hope? That movie started out pretty dark and definitely not fun for the rebels.
it didn’t measure up to the bar set in terms of four-quadrant appeal.
