Actually, no. 10^16 bytes is equal to 10 PB. What you're thinking of is the binary prefixes, which would actually be a pebibyte (PiB). So the storage capacity is equal to 10 PB which is equal to, as you said, 8.882 PiB. Not 8.882 PB.

So my desktop's motherboard died about two weeks ago, and I, rather stupidly, didn't have all my data backed up (specifically, a few not so important files and all my videos). Now the hard drive was fine, so I bought an enclosure, plugged it in, and then connected it to my laptop. At first, the laptop showed the files…

My old hard drive was a 750 GB that had about 250 GB free, mainly due to a lot of games and movies/tv shows that I had on it. That hard drive died about two weeks ago along with my motherboard, and my new 2 TB drive is using about 100 GB so far now that I lost my videos and I haven't bothered to reinstall all my games…

@The Artgineer: It's a hypothesis with a whole lot of evidence supporting it. Science doesn't allow us to ever really know, but it allows us to come damn close, and this is one of those situations. It'll never be fully proven, but we may as well say we know it, what with the fossil evidence we have.
