I always thought it’d be very useful to show the torque/power/BSFC graph on the dash and have it change depending on the engine load so you can see what the most efficient use of power is, whether it’s for acceleration or fuel economy.

What you may have had is a tuner car. A hot rod is usually defined as based on an old ~1930’s design and layout. It may be completely modern, but still based on the design, at least loosely.

Great post. I agree fully, but also want to add that for storage, an old filing cabinet will hold a lot of mass and will be easy and cheap to buy. I just bought a house and there was an old filing cabinet in the garage. I looked into selling it on craigslist but realized that because the rollers are shot, I’d be lucky…

Not sure if you realize, but they did exactly what you suggested. They debuted with the 4C which is a spider like car although mid engine, and then released a compact RWD sedan... They are trying to be a luxury mid-level company between Fiat and Maserati, so don’t expect any of their cars to be actually “cheap”
