Nah, I’m pretty sure, currently, Discovery falls short of the sum of it’s parts.
Nah, I’m pretty sure, currently, Discovery falls short of the sum of it’s parts.
And to the surprise of no one, the target audience for discovery, in addition to being incapable of taking any kind of criticism, also hates real star trek.
And here we thought rick and Morty fans were the most delusional fanbase. No. Discovery is doing NOTHING new. Arc based storytelling isn’t even new to star trek. Ds9 had plotlines that took 5 years to pay off.
Maybe judging it by the standards of early Battlestar Galactica is too high a bar, but it doesn’t even come close by that metric. On its own, it’s ....fine I guess. Not great, but not terrible either (except for the new Klingon design, which is the worst thing ever.)
Get a hold of yourself. It’s not that good.
Well the acronym name is ST: D
Agreed. I actually enjoyed the pilot setup and the way the Klingons were re-introduced but I feel it’s been squandered since and by the end of the season, Discovery still hasn’t anchored itself in any tangible way to the viewer. While its finally established at least some assemblance of a core cast/crew, there’s still…
It is not at all unreasoble to expect a show with the words “Star Trek” in the title to actually be star trek. A weird, Trumpian, torture and war crime fantasy does not become worthy Star trek simply because of the branding.
Unfortunately, like the televised herpes that it is, discovery will return, quite possibly at the worst possible moment.
Exactly. It doesn’t need to be traditional Trek to be good, it just has to be a better version of itself.
I’ve defended the show against Trek purists who whine that it’s “betraying Trek ideals” just because it doesn’t feature a morally upright captain leading an ensemble crew on purely self-contained episodic stories about how awesome the Federation is.
THANK YOU.
I love a show with the guts to end when we all know it’s meant to.
laughable.. what is Laughable Sam is the fact that people are all trying to place blame on violent movies/video games/gun control.. the real issue here is the F'ing whack job behind the gun.. He made the choice to shoot those people... This country really forgot how to place blame accordingly. Each generation gets…
