Juliana and Frank are in lurv! It all make sense.

I found absolutely nothing in the series to give a solid reason why Frank and Juliana get along. Or why they're living together after they (apparently?) stopped being engaged. Or why she seems to be almost unfazed upon hearing that her would-have-been sister-in-law and her kids got gassed.

It could be a little bit of both. Being shot _could_ have made him an angrier person, and also weak enough that the more war-mongering elements of the military have a stronger say in determining things.

Apparently this show has been renewed? There's a second season coming next year? … How?

She probably shot FDR :(

I don't know why the show is shipping those two.

KARA: You don't want to hurt these people
CAT: People of National City. This is Cat Grant coming to you from CatCo Plaza. We've just, minutes ago, restarted our broadcasting capabilities a- (loud sigh, takes off glasses, drops formality) Look. We're all suffering through a major disaster. Now you could react to this

Judging by the comments (and, heck, my own confusion on what actually happened) it seems like the show could have done a lot better at explaining its alternate history. Because it seems like this is the only explanation of the timeline that the show has given:

Yeah. Definitely felt like a "this would be cool" moment that was underthought. OH WELL

I can't tell if it's a necessary comment, but

Yep. That is the most basic summary of what the heck is going on in the novel. The novel is a alt history, within the novel is a different alt history novel, but then a character in the novel did really and truly temporarily shift(?) into our reality.

In the real world, he apparently became a Nazi around about 1950.

It's interesting because the show seemed to want your second paragraph to be true. … until the next episode.

The series takes very different angles on characters from the novel and maybe about 20% of the … weirdness of the novel got translated into this series.

They are committing a massive act of military espionage.

These songs in particular, and the soundtrack most of the time, was actually one of the strongest parts of the show.

Jessica Jones did not go to med school :(

The anesthetic is treated slightly as a McGuffin. JJ is unaware of any weakness that Kilgrave might have, she learns that he is afraid of being put under anesthetic, so she becomes a bit obsessed with getting that anesthetic, because she wants to be able to knock out Kilgrave as fast as possible.

"at least knock him unconscious pretty quickly?"
So there's this guy who can compel people with the sound of his voice. How quickly is "pretty quickly?" It has to be quicker than him saying "STOP!" If it's not, he might follow up "STOP!" with "Go walk into the ocean."

For the first time since… the show started, maybe, I didn't watch Gotham on Monday night. Or Tuesday. Or most of Wednesday. I finally started watching it late on Wednesday night, after I had read part of this review, the io9 review, and the EW review. So the good/bad news is that the SURPRISE plots weren't surprising.
