Uh, empathy? Really? For a guy who supported a movement that included death threats, rape threats, harassment, doxxing, and even swatting against people for their beliefs, race and gender? Where was people’s sense of empathy then?

I appreciate Anderson but there are moments when I feel he’s sucked every ounce of glucose out of the frame, through the over-symmetrical and over-thought composition.

Nope. Police do have discretion. Police dispatchers have very limited authority - it varies tremendously from district to district, but in most cases they have to send a respondent.

Counterpoint: unlike Tim Burton, Schumacher can actually figure out how to block an action scene coherently. You can see where they bad guys are, Batman actually, you know, moves (so many moments in Batman were about Batman barely moving, often sitting scowling in his cockpit), and there are actual moments of tension…

Which is... still less than 5% of the $1.25 million that you’ll need to retire comfortably, according to 2015's Forbes (that’s now considered an underestimate by some sources, since Rx/medical costs are rising faster than expected).

I’m sure you’re right. It was so long ago - the dissertation typing was in the early-to-mid 70s, and she started doing graphic design, typesetting and still photography in the late 70s. I think her first newspaper gig was 80 or 81.

I just remembered - when she worked for a newspaper, my mom had to go back to double spacing. Newspapers expected it.

My mother used to type people’s dissertations on her manual (and later electric) typewriter to make extra money. (I’m 47). IIRC double-spacing was normal for dissertations back then. I started on a manual typewriter at about the same age as my mom got her first computer - so about 12, then switched to hand-me-down…

The same one that put “sparkly” text as a formatting option. I sort-of miss that bullshit.

The only right answer is what your publisher/boss - or whoever is signing the checks you’re getting for your writing - wants.
