There’s an area in the woodsier part of my state that was a beloved summer camp for decades until the governing organization decided to sell it off. The new buyer said that he was going to do some “judicious logging” and then lease it back to a new camp group. What they got was so brutally deforested that no one

Parent (read: mother) keeps child in stroller on public transport for safety reasons: labeled inconsiderate. Parent takes extra time to remove child, fold unwieldy stroller, and situate (likely squirmy) child on lap: same. Child on lap is injured in an accident: parent to blame for not making safety number priority.

Yeah no. When I’m out with my disabled son and possibly inconveniencing someone with his stroller I am not broadcasting his various diagnoses. I’ll say sorry and try to make room but his condition is none of their business. Sure the people in your specific situation may just be assholes, but in these comments you’re

Yup. And that’s if the baggage people don’t break it, leave it on the tarmac, or give it away to another passenger because they didn’t bother to check which disabled person belonged to which wheelchair, all of which have happened to me. (It was not the other disabled person’s fault at all, to be clear; when I yelled

I don’t like kids on planes any more than the next person, but Jesus fucking Christ people are terrible to families on planes. Kids need to get places too. So do smelly people, drunk people, close talkers, arm rest hoggers, snorers, and droolers. The difference is kids can’t help being assholes and adults can. Stop

Strollers can help keep toddlers contained and in one space - if they weren’t in a stroller, they’d likely be trying to run all over the place, which is extra dangerous on public transportation. Don’t blame the caregivers - blame our social world for being set up with the expectation that women and people with babies

A vast increase in workload without an increase in either salary or help seems like valid thing to complain about. Will these people see a bonus? Will additional staff be hired to mitigate the rush? No? Then why should anyone expect them to be happy?

“I’m an American. I have constitutional rights.”

People are more likely to survive a stabbing. Comments like yours, meant to deflect attention away from the real issue we have with guns in the USA, are getting really tiresome.

That’s a brilliant idea. I hate that it’s such a brilliant idea.

You have no idea how much I hate that I’m here telling you that your plan is brilliant and thank you for caring about your kiddos so much. Also considering carrying a couple lollipops in my purse just in case I need to keep my own kids quiet in an emergency sometime.

I keep a bag of lollipops in the filing cabinet near where they have to be quiet. In the event that it wasn’t a drill or went on for a really long time, everyone is getting something stuck in their mouths. You have no idea how much I hate that I have a plan for that scenario.

I work in a museum that has a large clothing collection and you can definitely see a difference in skill level in the clothing. With the wealthy, you have these beautiful garments made by professional seamstresses. For the middle class, you have home-made garments, some put together well, and others clumsily

Clothing was also a communal activity for the working class. Major events - baptisms, weddings, funerals - any sort of shared celebration almost required people use their skills for one another. Here in San Francisco, workers often bartered for goods. At least that was the story for my grandparents.

Their eyes are drifting apart like Pangea. It’s unsettling

“They should be ashamed of themselves. They’ve humiliated themselves, humiliated their families, and now they’re going to be held accountable for what they did,” said Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson.

Great actress, cringe worthy speech.

I am a parent and I tell other parents that it’s okay not to like all of parenting. In fact, it’s perfectly normal to loathe entire portions of it.

I used this to make my Christmas card this year!
