Bunker and Trejo met while doing time at Folsom State Prison. Then, when Bunker was working on Runaway Train, Eric Roberts needed a boxing coach. Bunker brought in Trejo for that and also got him a role in the movie.

Someone on reddit suggested David Edwards, the DC comic that went on The Real World LA in 1993 and got kicked out for being a giant douche. Makes perfect sense to me.
