Its a 2008.  You really want a 2004.

You can do that with a GTI, I’m not sure the R32's rear drivetrain will allow that kind of abuse.  AWD is kind of crammed into the back in a weird way.
Also, that really hurts to look at.

Just to be an annoying pedant, the headline picture is of a 2004 R32. I loved my 2004, one of the most fun cars I’ve even owned. The 2008s were all DSG IIRC, which got them considerable stick from the 2004 crowd.

The 80286was a 16 bit processor with a “segmented” memory addressing mode that allowed it to access more than the 1MB that the 8086 could use. (In DOS only 640KB of the 1MB was available because of how DOS did it’s memory layout). you could address 16 bits at a time with an 8 bit “segment” that allowed for effectively

With such specific skills on that hardware can’t you negotiate a payday large enough to make it worthwhile to indulge Mr Nolan’s eccentricities?  There can’t be too many alternatives to your skill set.  A suite at the Chateau Marmont, per diem and a large hourly rate....

Back in the 80s there was a story in the local paper about a woman who died while driving across one of the long bridges across San Francisco Bay. When had run over a piece of rebar that had fallen off of a truck and it came up through the floor and impaled her. This was before cell phones, so her teen daughter who

Yes, they were very good brakes, not super grabby as you might expect, and definitely good at stopping a fully loaded bike with a not small rider.
Cantilevers no longer popular when they came out and they were prominently marked as “for rear wheel only” to discourage lawsuits from people locking up their front wheels.

You must be old like me to run bikes like that :)
My first half step plus granny was a touring bike - I loved half step because it had more gears in the common range I used used. When heavily loaded (mainly with my fat ass) it was that much more important to be able to get the best ratio for the road.

Road 1x is definitely a thing. there are 1x options for all bike types. They are much more popular on gravel/mtb because that is where they started, The road market is pretty stodgy and any innovation is slow to be adopted compared to mtb/gravel. Road people are much more interested in weight so the large cogs of a 1X

This is correct, from the big/big picture, he would rip the cage off the derailleur if he took a cog out. For half step plus granny drivetrains like the smallest few cogs are not usable when on the small front cog. He would be better served by adding a link to reduce the stretch in the big/big combo and just never use

I have not seen a half-step plus granny setup on a bike in YEARS, with the exception of one of mine that has been in semi-retirement for a decade. That looks like 50/46/28 which is a classic half-step setup. You may find that you can drop the chain on a shift on the front if the chain angle is wrong. You may also have

I’ve been shifting (and abusing) bike drivetrains for 35 years. I recently got a modern bike with electronic 1x12 shifting. It has its upsides and downsides. The big upside is that you never have to think if the next gear is one shift or two shifts away, you just go up and down to get the gear you like.
The downside is

How much of the dominance of Mercedes vs Ferrari’s run is due to Hamilton and how much is the car? In 2014, 2015 and 2016 Mercedes drivers finished 1/2, well clear of the #3 driver. In the first two years Hamilton also finished well clear ( 60+ points) of Rosberg, and in 2016 Rosberg only beat him by five points.

Putting a car in a barn and forgetting it doesn’t cost anything.

Yes, definitely an ultra-lie. When someone like him says such a thing it is almost always the case that they are the absolutely most racist person ever. Like so much of what he says, assuming the truth is the exact opposite is the best approach.

The eye rolling from Trump was quite impressive!  Some of his expressions while Biden was speaking were quite amusing

That is perfect - although I would love to see you try to cold set a frame using Sheldon’s method.  That could be a fun posts that lead to a new rear triangle because you broke it :)  It is good that you know the right size and can get the right alignment.

I think the rabbit hole was the entire point of this exercise!

Depending on where you live Criagslist of FB ads are generally good sources for used bikes at reasonable prices. Only half of them are stolen and thus extra-cheap. j/k, but beware that the used market is fully of stolen bikes. Local flea markets are also a good source of decent used bikes. New really isn’t necessary

You might be warned that the rear hub spacing might be different. This is the “over nut” width of the rear hub. A 1987 vintage frame may well have a 120mm rear spacing, the size that was common back then and had been standard on bikes since the 1950s. the 126mm rear spacing became more common with six speed rear
