It’s not one factor but all of them put together. And Rocket wasn’t super famous but the Guardians of the Galaxy did have their own comic series, and Rocket was famous enough before the film to appear in a Marvel vs. Capcom game.

That Megan Fox story was denied by Spielberg. Michael Bay is the one who made up that story when he was trying to destroy her career. You don’t fire someone for proving Godwin’s Law.

Yes, it’s definitely worse for Echo. Still, if I was in charge of Harkness’ show, I wouldn’t feel super confident.

The decisions to make TV shows about Agatha Harkness and Echo were already questionable to begin with, this isn’t going to help their case...

Yeah, this sucks. Baxendale doesn’t have the kind of career where the press talks about her a lot, so having someone say you weren’t funny several years after you worked with them can’t be all that nice.

“I had the town in my hand [after releasing Fury]—could’ve done anything,...”

What I am willing to take to task is the fact that multiple Asian characters, including the titular Dr. No, are played by white actors in yellowface.

In all fairness, Star Wars is also a bunch of different movies blended together; including Dune & Samurai movies.

Christopher Reeves was 26 in his first film, most continuities have the character assuming the mantle in his early 20s’. Corenswet isn’t young, it’s Cavill that was an old “new” Superman.

The criteria for the list are a little vague. Some movies are only criticized for being inaccurate, not necessarily bad. If those qualify, than you have to mention Braveheart, which manages to be inaccurate even in its title. 1492: Conquest of Paradise is also quite the hagiography.

I have a question: are there “real”, human versions of Rhodes and Everett K. Ross out there?

I think so too. The huge beginning may have also been misleading by setting the bar a little high. Personally, I noticed a lot of people I follow on Twitter have been less active there since Threads opened, so there still might be a transition happening. We’ll see.

It’s just ageism. While Ridley Scott can be super accurate for some historical details, he’s also very likely to ignore important ones just because he feels like it, and he gets away with it because he’s Ridley Scott.

Josephine was five years older than Napoleon. Kirby is 13 years younger than Phoenix. They could have at least tried to cast a forty-something actress. Jodie Comer, who was originally cast, is even younger than Kirby.

Her talent feels more suited to Barbie than to Narnia. With Barbie, there’s a feeling of “what is she going to do with this”; there’s no narrative material to compare it to. With Narnia, she’s going to have to follow the story, and that story is not good.

The Cars franchise really did irreparable damage to the Pixar brand. Once they released their first mediocre film and it became a hit anyway, their standards were never quite the same after.

I used to wish that Bethesda games had more robust characterization and tighter stories, and that BioWare had bigger worlds and more customization. With the failure of Andromeda, I have come to accept that different studios have different strengths. If Starfield can be a great, traditional Bethesda game, I will enjoy

Oh, I don’t think stars are necessary for every show (there were no big star in Succession, for example), but when your show is a $200 million new IP, you need every bit of help you can get.

I feel like you would need much bigger names than Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas to make that price tag work. They’re not responsible for the low quality of the series (as far as I’ve heard) but getting a return on huge investments is what movie stars are for.
