I feel like people who think that these concerts have live singing in them also still think wrestling is real

It’s amazing that the fandom of Swift, one of the most popular, rich, and powerful people in pop-culture, relies almost entirely on seeing her as a victim or at least constantly in danger of being victimized.

What does this even mean?

Eh, the kids? That I understand. Kids are emotionally underdeveloped (because they’re developing), reactive, loud...well...children.

It’s surprising for Grohl to be throwing such obvious shade Swift’s way, first because he’s clearly aware of the consequences of “the wrath of Taylor Swift,” and second because the pair have always been friendly in the past.

Eh, that seems pretty mild and harmless as far as swipes g-oh my god I don’t care about any of this. I’m not above celebrity gossip, I’m here after all, but goddamn, there’s no meat on this bone at all. There’s barely even a bone.

So we’ve reached the Taylor Swift is the Anita Sarkeesian of music era, where being criticized somehow makes her right. The Swifties are quickly becoming one of the most toxic fanbases, approach Sonic levels and threatening to eclipse Snyder fans at this pace. Yes, she uses backing vocal tracks live. It is well known,

I had no idea it was ever in question or a potential source of fake outrage. It’s how things are done, especially for products like Swift.

I didn’t care for Luca as much as others did, but I genuinely believe that the only reason Turning Red is not in the tier of classic Pixar is solely due to the pandemic. It’s emotionally rich like IO/IO2 and silly and all about pretty universal things without skimping on the specificity of its main characters. It gets

The next time someone asks why studios are so obsessed with sequels, point at this. It isn’t a bad movie by any stretch of the imagination, but it isn’t “number one earner for the year after just a week" good either.

I agree. Sorry, I forget that sometimes things I write can sound defensive or be perceived in ways I don’t intend. I’m just trying to write as clearly as I can to avoid misinterpretation.

It’s at times like this I remember what my grandmother said to me and my wife at our wedding. “The Academy Awards don’t exist to award achievement in film making. It exists to make the industry that has a stranglehold on film making look legitimate and important.”

Me enter discussion!

Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t the lead in Silver Linings Playbook, but your point is a good one.

Oh, for Christ’s sake, it’s a televised awards show. It is not compelled to meet you weird ethical demands. The fact that some people like it is the justification for it existing.

If you think the Oscars are just an outdated relic, and you dislike them so much, maybe the people who like them can just keep them as they are.

If we have to explain that the actors in movies do not actually become the characters they’re depicting onscreen, we’re gonna be here all night.

Like fights about sports, I think it’s a mistake for transgender/gender nonconforming people to be choosing this fight. It means that, when many people are still very uncertain where they stand on gender issues, public battles are being fought on ground that is not especially favorable.

“where most understand gender expression as existing on a spectrum rather than fixed binaries”

I think people are worried about men winning both awards.
