I thought it was a fun episode. I thought the spirit of the episode invoked enough of the TOS Movies, and my goodness, Jonathan Frakes could have chemistry and charm with a chair. I think his being there elevated Patrick Stewart, it was genuinely fun to watch them try to do hijinks together.
It was about as well done as Encounter at Farpoint, which is to say it wasn’t particularly good but was better than a good chunk of the Picard we’ve watched for the last two seasons.
