I don’t remember the book being nearly so... action sci-fi melodrama? Without going into spoilers the idea was just that the Empire was entering a steady decline, not some catastrophic fall a la the sacking of Rome. I liked how lowkey and thoughtful they are

I’m gonna assume the developers were really trying to ride that anti-Trump wave and it came in just a little too late

When people you don’t like get demonetized: THeY’re a PRiVatE COMpanY!!!!

Pretty sure the Norse gods were not only worshipped by Norwegians...

It got better about halfway through the first Netflix season, for me it was the Yongary episode. But yeah it still never really felt like they had steady footing. I think they tried too hard, which for a show that was always happy to be lowkey and actively mocked creative products that DO try way too hard, was odd.

I’m a college professor and the only people I encounter who I think are genuinely stupid are other college professors

So at some point in the High Republic Era, they invented talk radio and social media. That’s my head canon now. The real question is why they had Skrillex hair cuts before porn ‘staches in the GFFA

I agree on your last bit, but it’s more like 65% per the Science paper that went off like a grenade in 2015 found here. It’s primarily because generations of researchers were taught to keep collecting data, or rerun experiments, until they get p < .05 for their statistical tests of interest so they can publish those

Psychologist here- We’ve been re-evaluating a lot of stuff, but probably the most pernicious deception in my field, in terms of how influential the research was, its cultural impact, and how it still gets uncritically taught in introductory texts, is the Stanford Prison Experiment. It didn’t even remotely go down the

I need that for a yard sign... “In THIS house... we believe... (the usual stuff) AND NO PEOPLE ARE CAVES!”
