This was written up on the O-Deck last Friday and shared to the i09 mainpage. Maybe it seems familiar because you saw it two days ago in this exact place.

This image was already written up on the O-Deck and shared to the io9 mainpage three days ago. And the O-Deck writeup had more and more accurate content than this stub of a link does. WTF guys?

I think it’s the content more than the depiction that is a road block. Explicit sexuality is a part of the series, if it’s something they can barely get away with in the comics I can’t imagine the compromises made for TV. I totally agree that the big deal with Watchmen isn’t the gritty re-imagining of superheroes in

While the individuals like Deckard and Batty are of mixed character, grays yes not black and white, I still feel there is a distinct division between good guys and bad guys. The movie’s hero saves the guy who is trying to kill him in the end. The villain shoots an unarmed woman in the back as she runs away from him.

Darryl Revok. Michael Ironside generally steals the show but Scanners, damn.

Cops don’t like me... so I don’t like cops.

My official vote goes to Roy Batty but my runner up is Dominic Greene from QoS.

ROY. ALWAYS ROY. Deckard is the Nazis and Batty is the jews, so, yeah, Roy.

DEFINITELY gets the best line in the movie.

In the book / real life she was 15.

Jellon Lamb. As the kids say, your argument is invalid.

Humbert Humbert’s Infinite Playlist

I want to say something, something about the source material, something about how incredibly wrong the trailer seems to have gotten everything, but I am just at a loss for words. This is so so so wrong. So wrong. Maybe later I will be able to add some content to my criticism, but right now I need to throw up until I

Am I the only person who is bothered by almost all of the sources being 5-9 years old? Isn’t that a big no-no in writing about science? According to articles from this decade, Pluto is going to be a planet again in a couple months. This piece does seem factual, or at least sourced, but outdated. Also, the hook:

Ewige Blumenkraft!

Maybe not the worst, but certainly my worst was Children of Men.

Yeah, you can see that the budget is being sucked out of the art department (costume design, for example) to be funneled into effects. Making the film look good shouldn’t solely be in the hands of post-production.

I am going to have to back you up on this one. Cinematography in these movies is just dead. A car chase that is nothing but two cars driving fast in a straight line is not in any way exciting. There is more dynamic driving in the first four minutes of Quantum of Solace than all three Nolan Batman movies combined.

You might want to check out Gotham Central as well, it is essentially a police procedural (Law & Order: Batman) with way more of a focus on the villains than on Batman, who drops in and out of the scene as it suits him and is generally not well-liked. FYI Poison Ivy only appears once, but it is a good once.
