I think it depends on the parents. If they’re paranoid MAGA heads talking about roving marauders, have an AR-15, have any tacti-cool gear, no. If the person occasionally hunts or shoots skeet, probably.
This is not true of responsible gun owners. The people whose children are killed are not responsible gun owners, therefore they don’t count.
Gingrich was the catalyst/provocateur of the current crop of Republicans. He’s the one that started to question the patriotism of Democrats, he’s the one that wanted to “end” the Democratic party, he’s the one that made all politics national. He’s the godfather of peddling conspiracy theories.
I have no doubts that Trump is trading off of his own statements. Veiled threat to Amazon? Short the stock.
1. Wait until he actually signs the thing. Trump can change his mind if Fox hurts his fee fees again.
It seems like Trump’s strategy is to do horrible things in the open as a defense to his wrongdoing (since ‘normal’ people wouldn’t be so public).
I agree with doing that. The GOP doesn’t like funding those sorts of things.
I’d love it, but to the GOP, that’s one of the the worst things that could happen.
His advisors are trying to avoid national emergency because the precedent of declaring a non-emergency. Using such a loose standard would allow future presidents to declare the poor state of our infrastructure a national emergency and use defense funds to repair roads, bridges, and schools, etc.
This will not end until Trump personally feels the pain of this, or sentiment among supporters go sideways (support remains high among the base). Neither has happened yet.
I’m not sure he’ll flip. Those aren’t major crimes and he’s almost assured a position with a think tank to reward his silence. If someone assured me that I’d have a good job for the rest of my days, I might be willing to do 6 months in prison if I believed in the underlying cause. I think Stone is a believer.
Yes- this is a “please pardon me Trump” to keep him in his good graces.
If he does this, then the next president can declare a lack of infrastructure (bridges, roads and schools) a national emergency and divert military funding. That’s why they’re trying not to use this option because they know the reason for declaring it is BS and they’re setting a dangerous precedent.
77% are happy with their healthcare.
I assume this is a case of a D that votes with you 40% of the time is better than an R that never votes with you. But, I’m willing to bet you can find a conservative D to run in WV that will vote with you 75% of the time rather than 40%.
The straw persons are in heavy use today. “Progressives” can be favor of social programs and against Maduro. Maduro is a despot. That’s why it’s called Democratic Socialism, and usually doesn’t involve full nationalization of all industries. It seems like most developed countries are able to achieve the balance.
I don’t care about income taxes...unless capital gains started to be taxed as regular income over say, $5M. Hell, you could keep tax rates the same or even lower taxes if you taxed some portion of capital gains as income and removed or capped commonly (ab)used deductions. It’s also easier to sell to the public if you…
I’d want all of it, but thinking of the art of the possible.
Just have the police pension fund pay 1/2 of the settlement. I’m sure these sorts of incidents would magically dramatically decline.
