Franchises like Subway are actually marketed as a turnkey type of business to immigrant communities. 

If you think that’s bad, try being a vegetarian paying the same price without wanting the most expensive ingredient.

I’d like to think Quiznos failed because it was one of the first businesses to pull the Internet into reality withe their stupid commercials.

Meh. Subway has its use. If you are travelling, or road tripping, and you just want plain food that won’t cause you to have trench-ass, then there’s a subway at the next exit.

Maybe the next ad will feature Spongmonkeys again. 

Like most franchises, it only works if you have cash to buy in and can afford multiple stores.  The ones that fail are single-store owners who don’t have the ability to manage economies of scale (for example, by trading labor or product between co-owned stores).

Heard that sometime this Autumn Subway & MoviePass gonna team up for blockbuster promotion/discounts. Don’t have the details though.

Had a long and fruitless conversation about that, once with a franchise owner. Afterwards, I just asked for white, orange, or holes, so I’d fit in with the crowd and my order was always correct. 

Many years ago, I was behind some college-aged customer in line and he was asked by the sandwich artist what kind of cheese he wanted. “Just the regular...triangle cheese.”

... and have their staff use dedicated utensils to pick up meat/veggies/condiments, instead of gloved hands. They move bacteria around from one container to the next, plus make it impossible for people with allergies or aversions to eat there, because there’s contamination.

Looks like they’re following Quiznos example. Charge more for a worse product. A can’t fail idea.
