It has not been out for "many years." The beta released in Summer of 2012. It's been out for two and a half years and has changed drastically since the beta launched. It's beta period period was no different than LoL or DotA2.

And? As a privately owned company that is basically the gateway for PC digital game distribution, it is also open to criticism from its customers. That's how the market works. If Steam wants to accommodate their customers, that means listening to their complaints. Honestly, you sound like you're crying. Get over it.
Like Burning Abyss stated, Smite is already over a million in their prize pool. By January, when the comp starts, it will be close to million or over. I've started the beta in August of 2012. That was soon after beta started. They keep adding servers to other regions, Tencent is backing the Chinese beta, and the…
Please fix the headline. The entire bit hinges on 'Making a 'Mon Our of You," not a "Man," which is what you have in the title.
Cryptic Comet is a one-man studio and I enjoy every game to date.. I think you will enjoy Armageddon Empires, especially if you are willing to overlook graphics for gameplay.
Calling this game a "love-letter" to other games that have similar themes or gameplay elements seems pretty lazy. And does anyone even write letters anymore? Hopefully this game won't cost less than the price of a first-class postage stamp in some bundle deal 18 months from now. Ahem...
Rage and Doom 3 are both good games. Carmack may have used Id's games as ways to showcase his tech, but that doesn't mean the games were devoid of narrative or gameplay. I played them both when they released and have played both in the last year. They were good games when they released and they are still good games…
This ground-breaking news is only half a day behind the notice Amazon gave me for the same sale.

Don't be an asshole.
Totally unrelated, but I play all my MP games at 2560x1600 on a 30 inch S-IPS monitor on maximum graphic settings. But then I am playing on a PC. And I basically V-Sync all of my games, so that is at a solid 60 FPS with a ping that usually rests between 40-65.
When will someone do the right thing and put Cara Ellison's current gaming journalism aspirations to rest?
IV is the definitive version of Civ. V is good, but it over-simplifies certain areas of the game and the no unit-stacking makes late game combat on any map above small a tedious slog.
I think you made the right choice, and controversy is always a difficult thing to deal with. My opinion Kotaku's editorial leadership and the way this situation is being dealt with just changed significantly., for the better.
I posted this just a few minutes in response to a comment made by Stephen. I am only copying it because I think it is relevant to what you are saying and because i strongly disagree with the justifications being given by the editors for the handling of this piece, especially the handling of the deleted comments:
But the promoted comments don't automatically capture the depth of commentary and opinion an article generates. I personally ALWAYS select show "all replies" for this very reason. So what has happened is you have literally deleted hundreds of comments from readers, and those comments were, for the large majority,…
Why is Patricia Hernandez still blogging on Kotaku? This is not the first time she has conflated her very subjective and personal opinions on gender and sexuality with her role as a gaming blogger; I think calling her a journalist would be a stretch considering the majority of her content on Kotaku.
Demigod was actually pretty awesome; maybe just a little ahead of it's time, not nearly enough "gods" and not quite ready to compete with Heroes of Newerth, which most definitely was a DotA clone.
Smite actually has a decent community. So if you aren't level 30 yet, it is generally acknowledged that you are still learning and since you have a a background in MOBAs, you shouldn't have an issue...unless you can't handle the combat. I have played many MOBAs over the years and always keep an open mind when I see a…
Or you use your old OS, or Ubuntu, etc. Besides, that's software. I was merely dealing with hardware. You would also have to shell out 60 bucks for Watchdogs as well.
WHo cares what the case looks like? It has nothing to do with how games will run. Fans come with the case, the CPU comes with it's own fan and heat-sink. You could switch out that SSD drive for a 1tb driv with no change in price if you wanted storage over speed. A decent high dpi gaming mouse can be bought for 15…
