All these people love cars so much. Hate everything that isn’t “pure”. Yet don’t know the difference between a generation and a face lift. Holy God I need some water.

All this QOTD did for me was show me how nobody seems to understand the difference between a “facelift” and a “completely new model”.

I don’t understand what VW is doing wrong at this point. The GTi is as good as it’s ever been, the Golf R is better than it’s ever been, their Turbo Diesels are making 240 lb ft of torque and getting 40+ mpg and they offer them in wagon form with manual transmissions. Build quality is still excellent, and the cars

To say that nobody is watching DTM is one of those annoying ignorant Murrican statements that make me cringe. Look, the US of A are not all there is to the world. Just because no one in your country is watching it doesnt mean nobody is watching it. The ratings are good here in the old world. Its as if we Yooropeeans

It’s very different here. Looking at VW alone, so excluding Audi, Skoda and SEAT, VW outsold Subaru 66:1. In 2014, the Netherlands. Subaru had a market share of 0.17%.

In most of Europe (except Switzerland) Subaru are dead. Honda are only a bit better off.

... and Hondas. But only in (continental) Europe.

No. 11:

They currently do not have any cars that compete against the GTI/GLI/Beetle Turbo/Golf R etc. I love the MX-5 but that would be the only Mazda I would own at this point. The Mazda 3 needs a 2.0t Mazdaspeed3 model to get me more excited for the brand. Also the MK5-MK7 Golf's/GTI's are fairly reliable for what they are.

This is something that I've been curious about: Are there differences in reliability between American-market (or American-built?) and European-market VWs?

Cloudiness is fixable.

What? I assumed they put those things in cars to stop your passenger getting bored.

Cadillac tries, yet sells vehicles in double numbers on the continent. I wouldn't be surprised if Cadillac is outsold by Ferrari, and that's not because Ferarris are so common.

When Cadillac cannot sell any cars in Europe this kind of "trolling" is sort of ridiculous.

Agreed.

Chrysler Town and Countrys, PT Cruisers, Chevy Cruzes, big Chryslers, Ford Econoline vans

Europe is almost Subaru free!

I will save you all. Believe in me. I'm with the High Command.

How has the Jalopnik Commentariat become so jingoistic, unintelligent, and butthurt?

Can nobody see that this article is not about Detroit, per se, but about the "American auto industry" as it is now? (Hah! "American"!)

That it's about the futility and consumerist garbage that permeates auto shows (did no one read
