I work in a medical marijuana program, and it is maddening when the people who should be worried about opioid abuse are anti-marijuana. (but think about the stereotypical pot dealer and there are racial undertones as well)

The crack epidemic was all about solving the scourge of the imaginary “crack babies”. They didn’t even pretend to care about the crack addicts because they weren’t white enough.

There’s one difference: during the height of the crack epidemic there was a lot of news about “crack babies” born to addicts, people donated time and money to hep them. Today the news only talks about kids being orphaned due to opioids when a politician is trying to ensure gay people can’t adopt them.

That couple were *everywhere* today, they came across a pair of hideous bigots who are determined to cram their beliefs not just down their own child’s throat, but everyone else’s. This quote was especially unpleasant:

Yeah mine was super out of touch. They talked about LSD and acid and how taking LSD can make it feel like bugs are crawling all over your body and you would scratch at yourself until you bled.

Lol. Maybe this is just me but during DARE when they talked about the effects on the drugs I thought dang that sounds awesome. And then I became a drug addict. Thanks, DARE.

And it occurred to me that this current situation has tainted just about every aspect of everything good about America.
