In addition to the 919, I'm also thankful for Porsche's 911 GT1-98 (their last Le Mans winner) and the 956/962, one of the most dominant cars in racing history.
Am I the only one who thinks modern race cars are beautiful, too? Maybe it's the engineer in me, but I love their form-following-function look.
So glad to see this as it's my favorite car of all time.
I hear that's what marriage is like after 20 years.
I just don't see a move to F1 as technically relevant to VAG's interests as WEC. WEC technology is much more applicable to road cars than F1.
Welcome to the NHL, kid.
The mirrors are different in the pictures.
That's the American way!
It's over my head, too. I don't get it.
Plus, they all have that stupid brotherhood mentality where no one will turn in another. That's great, unless you have a bunch of cops being dicks, which we certainly have.
My first thought, too! There's a rumor of a fifth team announcing an LMP1 entry this week sometime.
So, you say VW fired up a 911 GT1 and it sounded awesome, AND YOU DIDN'T RECORD IT?!
Whether or not they're synced (you're probably right, they're most likely not), they should've thought, "OK, we really need to keep track of these cars and these families so we don't make the situation worse. Let's track everything regarding these cars." The fact that they failed to do that shows thoughtlessness and…
Considering they tried to keep these families from telling their stories and threatening to sue if they did, they definitely knew how to keep track of them.
No, this is not likable. The handshake after a playoff series ends is a long-standing tradition in the NHL. It's a time to show respect to your opponent, whether you won or lost, and to wish them luck in the future. What Lucic did was shit on this tradition in typical Lucic fashion. He's a great player when he's not…
I'm from Wisconsin and an Avs fan. My dad and I went to a Wild vs. Avs game in Minnesota a couple of years ago. The fans and people working at Xcel couldn't have been nicer, even after finding out we were from Wisconsin and I was wearing a Duchene jersey. Of course there was some friendly ribbing, but it was all in…
While I really do like this, with the Cayman, Boxster, 911, Panamera, Cayenne, 918, and factory teams in LMP1 and GTE in the WEC, I don't know if they'd be able to make all of these (relatively expensive) cars.
Yes, Porsche dominated for a long, long time, but this is a completely new era; new technology, new regulations, and new competitors. They're probably using minimal (if any) data from their last factory effort in 1998. I'm sure there was some sharing of data from Audi to Porsche, but to get on the podium after a 16…
