Diversity at its heart is NOT equal treatment for all. That would maybe be a fair statement if it weren’t for centuries [millenia in some cases] of mistreatment legalized and in some cases perpetuated by the law. At this point, this society has a lot to make up for.

WORD! So much word!! I have longstanding physical pain issues and a lot of PTSD, so marching for hours on end alongside shouting people is HELL. Meanwhile most rallies don’t offer seating for people who need it, or a safe way for people in wheelchairs to participate in marches, or any of the other things that

I get that. Besides, being a woman talking about trauma and still trying to live in the public eye means you’re guaranteed to get death threats and be accused of insanity. However, legally it OUGHT to be an excuse-guess this is an instance of social attitudes not laws being a limiting factor.

Hon, I was talking about a) writing papers for an online system which connected me with other professionals in need of someone to create professional content, sometimes four or five papers each day at 2-10 pages each; 2) doing research for a state representative, which requires several research reports typed

I fucking hate this show and I hope it is replaced by something that “represents my generation” or whatever that I can actually see myself in

Yeah, me too. I grew up surrounded by my parents’ Jewish friends, attending Hebrew school regularly—I think there was some antisemitism but I mostly didn’t notice it because it was so buried, and because I didn’t know how to identify it as such.

I kind of agree, but I think a lot of people in progressive movements don’t really realize they’ve internalized a lot of antisemitism just from living in Western culture. I think people believe that because Jews aren’t being as actively persecuted anymore, the Holocaust is remembered as a national holiday, etc.,

I’m not really sure what your point is. I’m asked to produce content—that is, to write full papers—not that often at this point. However, in previous semesters and years, I’ve been asked to do so once each day, or several times a day. So I HAVE done it.

I’m getting that, but I still think people need to be responsible for what we say and how we say it, and not assume others understand where we’re coming from or what we’re responding to. That’s how microaggressions happen.

Totally vengeful.

Shouldn’t like—the record label then take Dr. Luke off her project, or can’t the investors or whoever in the label attack him for this? It’s bad for their business to have this lawsuit out there and to not have a project made by a high-profile artist just because their asshole producer won’t sign off on it. Isn’t that

Yeah but-people make all kinds of mistakes, and the law ought to allow for that, especially when abuse is involved and is warping people’s minds. His behavior is illegal, and should nullify the contract.

WORD. The stereotype of abusive male managers taking serious advantage of young and vulnerable women in the musical business is there for a reason.

but I mean—that’s totally counter to basic victim psychology. They should have argued THAT, I guess—that trauma freezes victims up and makes them unable to see a way out, much less to take it, and convinces women to blame ourselves etc. She was way young then, and he took advantage blatantly of her youth and

It’s because even though abuse of women is against the law, that’s only the letter of the law and in reality, it ain’t.

Like Hitchcock and what’s-her-name [which I don’t know because he made it that way by not letting her make any other movies after she wouldn’t fuck him]!

She can’t get out till he signs off on it.

Just like every other woman abused in a domestic abuse scenario who marries the guy who’s already abusing her. They condition you and groom you and that’s how abusers work.

Well OBVIOUSLY it’s foreseeable! She was a woman working in close quarters with a man, duh! What can you expect from a grown man confronted by a pretty/sexy woman, duh!

I get that it’s high turnover, but honestly-god this is going to sound so self-aggrandizing. But I rarely edit my own papers, and I rarely have as many mistakes as I find on Jezebel posts—which is NOT an indictment on the blog, cuz not everyone is good at editing, even writers. However, they ought to have copy
