Ellen is legitimately an all-star standup. I would even rate her in my personal Top 10.
1) Norm Macdonald
2) Dave Chappelle
3) Richard Pryor
4) George Carlin
5) Steve Martin (as a standup)
6) Ellen DeGeneres
7) Louis CK
8) Chris Rock
9) Rodney Dangerfield
10) Jerry Seinfeld

Thanks television!

Well, it's not quite a mop and it's not quite a puppet… but man…*laughs*…. So to answer your question, I don't know.

Yawn. These brave, privileged youth really made a statement. It will long be forgotten well before these kids' student loans are paid.

Your friends and family?

I hated commencement, but it's for your parents. I would only walk out if my parents were cool with it. Otherwise you should let them see you get the diploma.

tl;dr: John Oliver DESTROYS Trump, yet again.

What about unrealistic but helpful exposition in dialogue?
BJK [in traffic]: "Getting through this traffic is more challenging than winning Wimbledon six times."
Passenger: "I know, Billie Jean. Thankfully your driving is comparable to your aggressive, competitive tennis style."

Surprised they are making a movie about this. The match was thrown by Bobby Riggs in order to pay gambling debts. http://deadspin.com/how-an-…

How does an "establishment" candidate get outspent 2:1 by the "challenger"? How can a candidate be "establishment" if he was basically left for dead by his own party? If you mean "bad" ok, I get it. But Trump is not "establishment."

And maybe those counties that went for Obama would have gone for Clinton, too.

At least 50% of the blame goes to Democrats for running an incompetent campaign featuring an unelectable candidate.

Also, it wouldn't have killed Hillary to visit Wisconsin one time during the campaign.

Trump was the anti-establishment candidate. Hillary was by far more supported by the establishment (Wall Street, Fortune 500, universities, news media, Hollywood, etc.). If you mean SNL is "liberal," then fine.

Just to be clear, Norm MacDonald was the greatest Weekend Update anchor of all time. His style of comedy that eschews cleverness and innuendo had the greatest impact on comedy, with an influence still apparent in several comedians. Any student of comedy will admit that few things "revolutionize" comedy. Seinfeld.

You would never see such shenanigans on ElimiDate.

Wait, these kids don't remember Trucker Hats, or Bratz dolls, or the Adkins Diet, or Livestrong bracelets, or Crocs, or Halo, or Bushisms, or WMD, or that time Ashlee Simpson lip-synched on SNL, or Super Bowl wardrobe malfunctions, or Budweiser Clydesdales honoring the fallen from 9/11, or 9/11, or Napoleon Dynamite?

I am sincerely concerned about the lack of social cohesion. Do you not question whether America will survive? What is a "nation"? What binds us? The commonality of our society is being torn apart. I do not write to exonerate Hannity/Rush. But don't pretend that Colbert etc. are not adding to our cultural divide.

Sorry, I thought a troll is someone who posts stuff simply for a reaction and doesn't actually engage in the commentariat for legitimate purposes. I post on other things too, so I'm not here just to inflame a message board.

I'm no troll. I have been a reader of the AV Club since 2001 or so, back when everything was just black and white pictures and reviews. I also happen to be a conservative. I'm not going to let my conservative principles keep me from enjoying pop culture. And I'm not going to be cowed into silence simply because my
