The power I had over these women is that they admired me.

Two good tweets I’ve read on the matter:

And like just last week Diana Moskovitz wrote a lengthy (and excellent) piece entitled “On Alleged” or some such that basically said exactly this. That “alleged” gets overused as a cover-your-ass tactic in sexual assault reporting. Deadspin’s headline this morning got it right “Aly Raisman says Larry Nasser sexually

By referring to her as an assistant, he’s diminishing her. He’s showing that she’s insignificant. Similarly, in a lot of cases, famous men will refer to “that woman” or “that person” instead of by name. It’s a way of relegating her to the sidelines; an unimportant person with no identity. Remember when Bill Clinton

I wish I felt surprised but Mad Men is a show that knows a lot about how a man who believes that he truly likes some specific women and thinks of those specific women as worthy and possibly even equals still constantly abuses his power over women.

I’m not surprised. He never seemed to respect any of the women who acted on the show. I will have to see if I can find it but Christina Hendricks said in an interview that he would give her directions on basic things that any actor can do. She told him he didn’t need to write those things out for her and he said he

so, so, so NOT BINGO. everyone is running to defend themselves for plugging their ears and not showing one shred of doubt where there was damn good reason to be suspicious. TEAM JEZEBEL ALL THE WAY ON THIS ONE.

I’ve come to a point where I have decided to believe ALL rumors of sexual assault and harassment. I’d rather side with a victim and be proved wrong than leap to the defense of a predator in the name of lofty ideals like “fairness”, thereby making it more difficult for women to come forward. There is nothing fair about

Nobody I know wants this. Myself included. And all of us are gonna watch it.

From the WaPo article: “Corfman, 53, who works as a customer service representative at a payday loan business, says she has voted for Republicans in the past three presidential elections, including for Donald Trump in 2016.”

If they thought she was telling the truth, I don’t know if they would mind all that much. I mean, we had Trump on tape bragging about sexual assault and all he had to do was grumble out a resentful apology and he was good to go.

I don’t think this will hurt Moore at all. I think voters will believe this woman is lying.

The way people get so bumfuzzled about the “he said/she said” nature of some sexual assaults is mind boggling to me. It’s as if the listener, for the time and space of hearing the sexual assault story only, utterly loses all sense of risk, motivation, and consequences. What possible motivation would a woman have to

I’m sure a person who is alleged to have insisted that Cohen stay just a little bit longer at Westwick’s apartment and was more concerned about looking embarrassed in front of Westwick is going to incriminate themselves.

Off topic but is there a legal reason why “sexual assault” is used in post headlines when a person states they were raped, when someone is specifically accused of rape? Thanks.

With a majority of men, public shaming works wonders. They never expect you to raise your voice or point at them or announce what they did. With these men, they go into immediate denial or get off at the next metro stop, hanging their heads.

It seems like so many men think that if they don’t have a burning, all-consuming hatred for women in the forefront of their conscious brains, that this automatically means that they respect women. Like, if they don’t actually think the words “what a fucking cunt” they are okay.

“My crime was my rock bottom” “I am an addict”

One of the things that I love about my apartment is that it is open concept — optionally. That is: the doors slide into the walls (minus the bedrooms). So whether one opens or closes them is absolutely up to one’s discretion. I love having them all open so I can breeze right through. But, if I have guests for dinner,
