Still....18$ is a lot for that short of a game. I know it’s like splitting hairs but I feel like 15 bucks is the upper limit on “short indie game”

Then raise the price of the blu ray. This sort of thing drives people away.

I picked up the Cowboy Bebop blu ray from a deal here some time ago and found that it was full of ads and trailers. Never again.

I waded deep into impulse purchase territory. But once i added it to my cart I realized it’s only that cheap because of a “sponsored lock screen”. You have to add $15 to not have amazon put ads on your lock screen. I got heavy black mirror vibes and dipped out of there as quick as I could.

As a writer (oops! make that “as not a writer”) these Pilot G2 pens are the ones I steal, er, borrow whenever I need a pen. The grip is great, and now I see I can get a finer point!

There are obviously many perfectly valid reasons to publish a poem (or piece of art or whatever) beyond the actual quality of the piece itself, such as increasing the visibility of typically disadvantaged groups (by Alexie’s own admission, he decided to publish the poem that is the subject of this article in the…
What is the truth of what’s really going on here? The author gamed the system. Good on him.
And this:
I’m not sure you can really say that without seeing the rest of the successful submissions (and for that matter, some of the other submissions that almost made it in, but didn’t). It may not be brilliant, but taste is subjective, and we also don’t know exactly how brilliant all the other poems were. What you’re…
This one is tough for me. As an African American man, I can see why Alexie did this. He wanted help someone of color get a leg up in spite the fact the work is mediocre to just plain not good. In trying to raise the voice of someone of color - who traditionally has had and still has trouble having their voices heard -…
I’m not sure I agree with his reasoning either, but his strategy worked. He got published. And we’re discussing the poem. And we’re discussing the political implications of his name. Which, if you believe his sincerity, was the whole point. And these discussions are kind of the whole point of getting published.
“Although I appreciate that he’s acknowledging his own power here, Alexie calling his desire to publish more writers of color “nepotism” is similar to someone invoking the bugbear of “reverse racism”—it implies that people of color are in possession of a certain amount of leverage that I’m really not sure we have.”
All right, I may agree with parts of your statement, but dissections really do help to teach you about anatomy and physiology. I (and most of my cohort) were respectful of the animals we dissected and I certainly didn’t see anyone come out with the message that animals are disposable commodities. Rather, I think it…
As an American, I can say that I didn’t even learn the states and their capitals. The curriculum changed from “learn it in sixth grade” to “learn it in fourth” when I was in fifth and they just never bothered to fix it. That's how bad education is.
Except you really do need math if you have any interest in engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, medicine, architecture, ecology, business... hell, even the Recreation Management students at my college had to take Prob Stats. My sister took more levels of calculus than I ever knew existed and she works in…
Yes, and unless you were a member of the royalty, you’d be making a wonderful living on the Continent as either a soldier or an inbred potato farmer.
I’m glad there’s no video or audio clip or something in this article that shows people who may not have played the game what you’re talking about.
I don’t understand why we can’t make initials-plus-last name the international standard for resumes. Or just initials. Everybody wins.
