Oh, at 95.2% ND...even better!

Jalopnikians aren’t going to like this one, it’s going down hard (Haven’t added my ND vote yet). I’m guessing 80% plus ND vote for “racecar” look with an auto and stock mechanicals. I occasionally like the stanced, wide, deep-dish wheel, silly body kit look...this thing is just ugly and extra silly

Some wide body kits are cool. This is not one of them. I’d be spending my $55k shopping for a Vette  that doesn’t look like somebody’s driveway project. ND.

The extroverted body kit makes it more show than go

Pop rivetted fender flares is a look that needs to die.  Like yesterday.

There’s no shortage of “rare earth metals”. Its a misnomer. These metals are, however, expensive to get out of the earth in this country, but cheaper in other countries. We have plenty of metal in the US, just no will to get it from the ground in a sustainable, practical, economical, and humane way.

If nothing else there should be a weight tax. That translates directly into road maintenance costs independently of whether the vehicle emits smoke from the rear or not.

There needs to be a tiered drivers license system in the US. The “walk into the DMV” tier of license should get you something 2800 lbs max, 150 hp max and no power steering. Anything faster or heavier needs some amount of hours of professional instruction.

I have been screaming this forever. Plus we think we have problems with pedestrian and bike deaths now, add another 3,000 pounds to the curb weight and no one has a chance. Plus the idiots driving these will be killing drastically higher numbers of people in reasonably-sized cars.

All cars are heavy as hell right now. I had a Q3 loaner when my car was in the shop and when I looked up the specs, I was shocked to see its weight at almost 2 Tons and almost as much as a Q6! All for a subcompact crossover.

Take a look at the specs listed at the bottom of the article. This is still a fat pig like most EVs, but it’s nowhere near 6k lbs. No idea where Kyle got that much higher figure at the beginning of the article, but I assume that’s the GVWR instead of curb weight.

no one needs 99% of cars. We could all get along fine with a boring blob car that gets you from point a to point b.

Finally found one of the “it’s still a Kia” people in the wild! I thought this day would never come. I am so happy to see there are STILL people out there stuck in “everything they make is a 1996 Hyundai Accent GL” mode. This is like witnessing a rare species.

The article says “the chassis struggles to control the GT’s 5,732-pound bulk when trying to hustle around corners.”

Very out dated way of thinking. Kia has IMO one of the better lineups in the auto industry. Folks were spending mid 50s for kia stinger GT2 (not enough folks, but they have a pretty loyal fanbase), and folks are spending over 60k on top trim Tellurides. The Ev6 is completely unique from a styling perspective and a lot

I know a guy paying over $800 on a used Explorer because he had to have an AWD SUV for his 2 kids. He’s also defaulted on CCs and student loans, so that type of person.

I know a few. usually buying large tricked out trucks that serve no purpose beyond ferry them to walmart and for a place to keep their truck nuts hanging loose.

They have mixed up GVWR with curb weight. Kia says these are ~4,700 lb cars. Not that 4,700 lbs is light but its a full 1k-lbs less than what the author states.

its for me.  i love the ev6 and just drove an awd one last month.  i dont mind driving around in ecomode then switching to gt mode to outrun my friends gallardo to 60.  im already driving an element so it wouldnt be a huge body style switch, just a little lower to the ground.

Kia made a stupid decision to go with the Goodyear Eagle F1s. Their traction in corners compared to Michelins suck. Spending a little more to get much better tires would have probably gone a long way in making you more comfortable pushing the EV6 GT harder.
