If you have a functioning car, the best advice is to take care of it and avoid the market for as long as possible. But that advice doesn’t work for everybody.”

Keep your car.

Seriously, I was coming here to say this exact thing. Austin Clagett did nothing wrong here and is just being screwed over by two companies that were too cheap to cover their offered prize.

No one in this story seems particularly likable...

I get that, of course. But a simple and relatively small electric motor is usually capable of a surprising amount of power. And even a garden-variety modern I4 can hit 200HP, naturally aspirated.

Yah seriously, AMG’s 2.0L inline-4 turbo is making nearly 400 hp with no electric motor helpers.

Right? It’s almost like a thought experiment to see how little HP they can squeeze out of the two.

I like that better, apart from the Bugs Bunny teeth front end.

No 959 love? Functional and aesthetically integrated...

No, the correct answer was ducktail.

Lightyears ahead? As much as I am annoyed by Tesla and its fans, I’ve yet to see a Chinese competitor that meets Euro/US safety standards and has performance comparable to a Tesla. Somehow, any truly “competitive” EV made by the Chinese doesn’t make it to markets where they have decent safety standards

Competition is good for consumers unless there isn’t a level playing field. The Chinese don’t play by the rules. In this case, tariffs are wholly appropriate.

Lets be real and fully recognize the Chinese government will always have an adversarial relationship with the west and will do anything to win economically, including manipulating markets via state sponsored pricing actions, massive intellectual property theft, espionage, and currency manipulation, etc., etc.

They could redirect a few of those dollars into redesigning the awful grill design...

I agree with you on the fresh new looks and who it’s being aimed towards, but having been around Bentley, Rolls, Maybach, and a lot of those types of cars, a few things make the “old skool luxury” brands stand out:

The same strategy definitely helped Lexus with the LFA, and countless others. It’s good to let the engineers and designers call the shots every now and then.

GM isn’t trying to make a profit from this. It’s simply meant to get people to perceive Cadillac in a better light and for GM to flex their skills. You can’t put a price on a good reputation (well, I guess north of $300k)

grey/white/red, floor mats or not.. loads of options!

uhm, what options? there’s nothing to configure.
