They tried the center-right Democratic thing. It was called the DLC and gave us Bill Clinton. Years later, Hillary tried the center-left Democratic thing.

There are like 2-3 of these moderate republicans, not counting David Brooks (and no one should count David Brooks). Dems tried to woo them during the election, they all voted for Trump.
Oh I don’t disagree: I’m kinda just smugly farting in the general direction of so-called ‘free speech advocates’ who are always whining whenever they have to face the consequences of whatever awful shit they say.
The Republican tears were so sweet when Jim Jeffords switched parties and gave the Democrats control of the Senate. We need to make sure the few sane Republicans left feel welcome so we don’t lose opportunities like that, especially since Trump is alienating people like crazy right now.
Yeah we’re all angry dude. But tarring and feathering the defectors isn’t going to win us any new allies. Better to show support when someone crosses that line so we can encourage others to do the same rather than see them quietly go along with their crowd.
Ugh, it feels like we’ve all stepped into a giant time machine and are headed back to the worst parts of our history. Granted, I feel like contextually this show helped bring visibility to the gay community back when it was on (I remember my very homophobic grandma started watching the series and realized, ‘Hey,…
writing characters for tv is hard - writing caricatures is easy.
Slovenia is most often considered central Europe. Mostly because it shared a much longer history with the Austro-Hungarian empire than it did with Yugoslavia and is culturally closer to the Central European sphere than the Balkans. Slovenes had their first state in the 7th century. The 70 years we spent in Yugoslavia…
30 years ago Slovenia was part of Yugoslavia, which is south eastern Europe. Besides, Yugoslavia was communist, and the general rule during the Cold War was eastern Europe=communist/Warsaw Pact, western Europe= NATO.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say most women here have given fake smiles to people in their lives they don’t like.
I’m from New Jersey and I am also confused about this.
I have a number of family members cursed with RBF. For the most part they’re actually lovely people, but they often get treated as if they’re grumpy or annoyed when in fact their emotions are completely neutral in that moment.
It’s not that she isn’t smiling, it’s that the smiles are so fake and forced and as soon as she’s done with acting happy around Trumpa Loopa she goes right back to looking like a kidnapping victim
I agree with you on that. I may not be a fan of Melania, but even in reference to her I cannot stand this “she isn’t smiling, so she must be angry or unhappy” bull crap. It’s nonsense.
Also a cultural thing- many people in Eastern Europe are confused why Americans smile all the time, even when not happy.
At this point, I have not met anybody who believes it. The rumor for years was that his dermatologist is the bio dad of the oldest two, at least (I believe he is now deceased as well). The speculation to me feels gross because, well, Michael raised them, he’s their dad.
I don’t, but don’t come around here with this sort of comment because you’ll be chased off by anecdata and screams of “IT’S GENETICZZZ!!1!”
Nope, he’s already reached his quota.
Not even with yours.
