All in the Family had people who took up the mantle, at least in parts.

At least Archie was specifically written, played, and regularly called out as a dick—an out of touch bigot who grumpily clung to his idiocy while his family spent their days reproving/enabling him. The show didn’t just assume he was correct, even though his actions and words were presented as “common.”
The most ironic thing with sitcom tropes being constantly imitated, is that the Honeymooners imitated the best friends next door trope from I Love Lucy, the originator of all original ideas.
Reminds me of Lane in Gilmore Girls...
Same here. When I was a kid it seemed like all the TV families were horrible to each other. At least Gomez and Morticia loved each other and their kids and family members.
Isn’t every Kevin James sitcom a reboot of The Honeymooners?
I recall that they already “flipped the script” in the sixties by turning the cast into animated cavemen.
Another takeaway that I got (aside from the obvious one about knowing women’s rights and supporting his costar) is that he was nice to the paparazzi.
I’ve seen a number of crew member friends complaining on Facebook today that Rossum’s move was selfish, and in danger of costing lower-level crew their jobs (in an effort to cut the rest of the budget to accommodate her salary). It’s so infuriating. Don’t blame the underpaid person for the boss’ unwillingness to cut…
With this electorate, Jesus himself would’ve lost.
Can we agree that she was a somewhat flawed woman that ended up doing great things for women despite those flaws?
Her misfortune, her tragic mistake, was taking up with those who were racists and not seeing where their policies led. But here’s the rub. The men who touted eugenics have not gone down in history’s hall of shame. If you do an online search of Teddy Roosevelt, or the African-American civil rights activist W.E.B.…
Before the comments turn into an echo chamber of how racist she was, I hope people will at least look at the article linked above here: http://www.politifact.com/new-hampshire/statements/2015/oct/05/ben-carson/did-margaret-sanger-believe-african-americans-shou/
Also, not sure that whoever fills that seat will be better than Scalia - the man was a racist asshole, but he was also pretty pro-Constitution and at this rate Trump’s Supreme Court nominee will be somebody who has been trying to get rid of the court system.
Jane Eyre is my favorite but I also love Villette for its unusual characters.
Literally the only person who would make a worse president than Donald Trump is Kanye West.
I’d say it’s twofold - first, we tend associate someone looking straight forward at the camera with, well, being straightforward. Someone looking directly at you in good lighting suggests openness and transparency; someone looking at you sidelong and in shadow typically evokes shiftiness and dishonesty - when you…
Yeah, I think people making fun of this are seriously underestimating the thought that goes into these kinds of shoots and cover designs. It is not an accident that Trump’s cover image resembles Hitler’s in several significant ways. It’s not an accident that unlike every other Time Person of the Year cover in the…
