Good point. I wouldn’t expect to find my shade in a specialty beauty supply shop in the Black part of town, but I’m sure I could walk into the CVS there and find something. I would not be surprised if the CVS’s in the whiter suburbs had nothing darker than “tan.”

To me, gypsies are definitely romanticized here. I’ve heard people who move around a lot and consider themselves free-spirited refer to themselves as “gypsies” in a good way.

I agree. I would argue that she likely was not totally clear on the difference between right and wrong owing to her upbringing. She needs therapy, not prison.

I occurred to me literally only a year or two ago that “gypped” is as bad a slur as “Jewed down.” Maybe because we don’t have a lot of Roma here?

Even on the subject of her prison sentence, Gypsy is a model of radical acceptance. IKR? I read on the article posted earlier today about porn, that the average kid is first exposed to porn at age 12. My kid is already watching YouTube constantly. So, probably before the end of grade school, I’m going to have to have a talk with her about porn. In addition to rape and consent and all of that.
