I use “problematic” because when I use the words “unbearably fucking creepy and sexist”, the rest of the debate becomes about whether I’m being too hard on an author/character that’s probably a really nice person and no real conversation happens. So “problematic” it is!

It’s been a while since I read Archie, but this is something that I wanted to happen for a long time, you are free to disagree with me but I’ll always like Veronica more than Betty, she’s rich and all but she still tries to do good for him, she’s doing a gigantic effort to be something different for him and that is

That’s... really mean, actually. It’s not her fault that her upbringing hasn’t given her any understanding of what normal life looks like and she’s never been in a grocery store before. She wants to help, wants to be useful, because she cares about Archie, even though that means going way out of her element and

That was awful, especially the supermarket bit is supertrite.

There is no deconstruction in this.

Actually, Archie is just doing Love and Rockets now. People should be reading Love and Rockets. Its kinda weird/disappointing that people are praising Waid with the writing as being revolutionary, like a breath of fresh air in the industry when shit like that has been around forever. I’m not knocking this comic (even

1. Given how the list is shown in the third panel, what is visible to the reader on the previous page constitutes most of the list. So given what we can see of the shopping list, I’m not sure how Veronica “can’t find hardly anything on the list”. The only thing I can possibly see her having difficulty with is

I know this is a reboot, but really I don’t remember veronica this useless as a human being, she was pretty much equal to betty in knowledge, they just moved on different circles.

I admit I’ve never been a consistent Archie reader, and maybe I’m just demonstrating some kind of narrow-minded assumption about rich people here, but I have a really hard time imagining Veronica being responsible for a syntactic nightmare like, “Can’t find hardly anything.”

Wait so Veronica is related to Liz Sherman from Hellboy? (go back, check out that third-to-last panel). If so, maybe Betty can marry Abe Sapien (who’s awesome).

*tears up his “Wally and the Wilkinsons” spec screenplay*

That was 25 years ago. I think television can handle another show about the same subject if they’re 25 years apart. We’re about to get five shows about time travel, for pete’s sake.

And I still ask why the makers of “Riverdale” felt they needed to racelift Josie when they already have a well written POC character in Valerie...who did have a relationship with Archie.

I still think they should make a TV series based on this. A show about a band starting up, trying to be a success, sounds right up the CW’s alley. Comedy, soap, or drama, the story potential is huge.

“Everything you liked is coming back.” Now, if only they could make me like any of the new versions.

Yes? I mean, it looks more like a mix of a white woman and a black woman, but, yes, it looks far more like a white woman than an asian woman.

I don’t think it’s very productive to try to insist to people that a face that stylized “obviously” looks Asian, because she doesn’t.

You are not wrong.

She looks white to me. Big round blue eyes. Never seen an asian with blue eyes.

Doesn’t look like a Japanese woman all that much either
