This was a Denny’s. It’s not like everyone orders full meals there. I’m sure we more than made up for the cost differential with dinners, desert, and drinks.

It didn’t close, but the manager was only there for a year or so.

A spelling error. That’s never happened before in the history of the internet. What are you so angry about?

10-12 years in the industry, here. I have never seen anything like that and if I did I would fire the manager on the spot.

I was a room-service server back in the day, but I always understood why people did this. Mostly because I’ve seen the Datelines where they show housekeeping cleaning every surface in the room—coffee pot, counters, toilets and glasses—with the same rag. At least you know the glasses you’re getting from the restaurant

At the Starbucks I used to go to they had a pitcher of ice water with small, plastic cups on the creme & sugar counter.

I ran into a problem with an order of just water once. My husband and I were at a restaurant, and we ordered full dinners, with drinks. My friend that was meeting us, had just eaten, so she ordered just a water. The waitress was fine, but the manager came out, and said if our friend didn’t order a meal, she would have

Many years ago, we had a school cookbook fundraiser with recipes submitted by parents. One of the “recipes” was to order two slices of white bread at a diner and use the complimentary packets to make PB+J. SMH

I just found my new beverage. And it will keep me occupied while I wait.

I’m a room service waiter, and it bugs the shit out of me when people order tap water. There’s a faucet and glasses in the room. Are you incapable of figuring this out on your own? I don’t need the extra few pounds of weight on my shoulder that a pitcher of water adds. You want lemon for it? I’ll bring you some lemon,

Some places have lemonade some don’t. They are just cheap. This is how it would happen. Person would order water with lemon. I would get water and put one lemon wedge on the glass. Person will ask for more lemon wedges and I would bring out a few more. Then they would ask for more lemons. Come by the table a few

McDonald’s factors that into the cost of the fountain, which is there to allow them to handle the busiest times with the bare minimum of staff.

It’s interesting how the Greeks spread out into the US and got into the restaurant business. Where i live in Birmingham, there is a huge Greek community with many options for Greek or Mediterranean dining.

Did you hear the one about the waitress who had the table of Jews?

ok everyone we’ve got to start submitting better questions because this one has me wondering why someone typed all that out for her

If you don’t want me to order water don’t be a Pepsi only restaurant!

In that case, yes, you’re the absolute worst.

Here I thought the question would be about asking for just a glass of water and no food.

Are you in California? We did it because of the drought. It became policy at most places.

Probably because it’s a waste of effort when a lot of people don’t ever drink them.
