Looks like somebody found the lithium pill that mommy hides in your food every morning!

Because I hate my job, I ready that entire seven-year-old “In Defense of Female Objectification” mailbag that was linked to and would just like to point out that some fucking dude proposed to his girlfriend on the jumbotron at a Spokane Shock Arena Football League game. I hope they are divorced by now.

Some people mature. Some people just have birthdays.

OMG someone calmly and mildly criticized something in a game we better type up a whiny comment accusing the author of being more mad than he actually was

“You’re telling me!”

“Alright, I’m going to watch that TD pass to Hollins only two more times.”

I don’t understand the negativity here. Isn’t the whole point of the Athletic that people don’t give a shit anymore about boring old white men who have some locker room access so they pick up some dumb storyline? This is the kind of shit that you guys (Deadspin) and Pardon My Take make fun of constantly. PMT always

Eagles fan here, and The Athletic’s coverage of the birds is worth the price of admission alone. Sheil Kapadia (former Birds247 founder) writes smart breakdowns of All-22s (with clips), has ongoing weekly conversations with people like Geoff Schwarz and Joe Banner that are more interesting than anything I’ve read in

Philly.com is now a pay site and the quality of writers is trash. Bodner and Kapadia are worth it for The Athletic.

My brother bought a used Mini Cooper from a luxury car place that sells all sorts of high end vehicles (Bentleys, Ferraris, etc.) and they were confused that he had to finance the 15k car.

Trey and Matt come across as two out of touch, wealthy, libertarian, bros.

It creates a truly authentic NFL experience when the fans can get CTE as well.

I’m pretty shocked by this. Every time I think I can get a handle on how people behave at football games something like this comes along and just makes me second guess humanity. I’m just at an absolute loss.

How does a dev allow kids to make in game purchases? Why does the kid have a credit card?

Its not about the cost of the crates its about that when you gamble you could end up losing what you gamble, with lootboxes you always get something for it in return and you will not remain with your hands empty. So in fact you can see it as “gambeling” because you pay for something and then you get random rewards,

[...]We think of it as a similar principle to collectible card games: Sometimes you’ll open a pack and get a brand new holographic card you’ve had your eye on for a while. But other times you’ll end up with a pack of cards you already have.”

If you gamble at a slot machine, it’s possible to walk away with nothing. If you purchase a selection of random goods, you walk away with exactly what you decided to purchase. A typically set number of random things. There’s no chance for ‘losing’ the money spent, so there’s no ‘wager’.

They are saying that because you always get something from a loot box it isn’t the same thing as spending money and losing like when you gamble. You may not get that legendary item but you’re still getting stuff.
