I bought a 99 GSR manual new when graduating from college and traded it in 2004 for an Element as I needed a family car. It was near mint and had like 60,000 miles. Trade value was $7k. This makes me weep softly to myself when thinking about it.

I design operating rooms for a living and that study was seriously flawed and assumed the passengers were wearing surgical masks.   Surprise surprise, it was sponsored by Boeing and American Airlines.

Or thankfully nobody has tried powering submarines with electric.

It isn’t 1999 anymore.   Modern VW is a different beast.

Most reviews had the two cars pretty close in track times and real world acceleration, no doubt due to the fact that the Germans famously underrate their engines…..  but yeah the cars have very different driving experiences, with the RS being more fun and lively and the VW being a more subdued experience.   No doubt

Given the debt situation of the average American, I’m guessing that most of these long loans are not being taken for the smart reasons that you mention, but are people over extending themselves by buying expensive vehicles based on the monthly payment alone.

Every recent car that I have drive has redundant audio controls on the wheel, so also having them duplicated on the screen is a non issue.  As far as HVAC, I generally leave my car on auto, possibly adjusting it once before I take off.

Yes, but originally the meet was from 7:30-ish to 10 on a Sunday, before the other shops even opened.   Coffee/food places loved it.   Local residents complained so the cops blocked the parking lot early, forcing the event to shift later in the morning when the other shops are open causing more issues.

He is actually surprisingly self aware on his podcast.

I’m guessing that when we get to the point that EV sales are overtaking ICE my a large margin, manufacturers will start focusing on the experience of ICE and manual sales will make a come back…. sort of like Vinyl albums.    Eventually every measurable aspect of ICE ownership will be inferior, but people will just

Your wrong. Most states currently have property taxes. Property is an asset like stock, and not money that I have…. Yes I payed for the house once…. but I’m being taxed at its current value…. Not at the value that I payed for it 15 years ago…. Do you see where I’m going with this?

Someone making $10B a year paying $2B in taxes is certainly not losing it all and is definitely not removing incentives to get rich….

Yes, pretty sure this was not written by their attorney.

As long as you acknowledge it is equally balanced by private corporations sucking at protecting consumer safety…. And the previous administration weakened their ability to provide oversight and slashed their funding.   Also put a former Delta exec in charge.

Similar to an Element but my wife having owned both, the Element had far more interior passenger and cargo space. Much taller and a flat floor for loading cargo, full size bikes, appliances, etc. With the seats folded up against the sides, two full size bikes fit upright. Brought home a new washing machine in one…

LOL there is no way a Chevy dealer is doing it the right way. They are probably just rubbing on one of those cheap ceramic wax products and calling it a day.

Maybe on the track but not on a street with this much power.     You might shift once to 60.

I am also the proud owner of an F31 BMW wagon, but no manual in the USA and I admit that the thought of a manual wagon with a V8 soundtrack is extremely appealing.  2.0 turbo motors are great in every way but the sound.

Yeah, I guess I meant the broad period from the Mid 80’s through the mid/late 90’s. Toyota and Honda really hit their stride during this period while GM/Ford sedans were barely treading water. My parents last straw after I switched to used Honda’s was when their lightly used mid 90’s Bonneville SSEi fell apart

My parents had one.  Was a great car at first, until the 432 buttons inside stopped working 1 at a time.  Seriously google the interior.
