Certainly no commercials now that they don’t make them, but VW used to advertise their “Clean Diesels” a lot pre dieselgate.

Remember. This is the internet and there is a good chance he is 12 years old.
It was a joke. Every time an electric car is discussed on Jalopnik, everyone comes out in the comment section to say how worthless it is because it can’t tow 10,000 lbs, or doesn’t have a 2,000 mile range.
Yep. Also my new iPad’s browser crashes before I get to the comments section on the really long recent Jalopnik articles.
While I’m sure Jalopnik readers tow with their Miata’s and routinely drive cross country in them, most people use them for short weekend blasts or short commutes.
Most people that drive 140k cars have garages... so probably there.
Panel gaps and how it does towing a boat cross country. These are the basic essentials of an electric car.
Regen braking has been around for awhile and doesn’t take much time to adapt. My wife has had several hybrids, with the first having been bought in 2006 and adjusting was easy. Some electric cars have different levels of brake regen depending on driving mode. Heavy regen is nice in traffic as you never need to…
Not just EV’s. All vehicles face more resistance at highway speeds which negatively impacts mileage.
Also gas cars/bikes. My car does ok at 70, but much worse at 90 and much better at. 55.
When I hear about people like your brother, I think these must be people who have nowhere particular to be from day to day.
Great comment. I also wonder how much of this comes from the philosophy of over-engineering built into the German culture. They want their batteries to have the advertised range 10 years from now when it is 20 degrees below zero.....
A couple possibilities.
Was mentioned in an article last week that Tesla basically lets you use all of the battery while the conservative Germans only let you use a portion of it for the sake of long term battery life.
And an M3 made 192 hp so I guess the gap continues.
Gotcha. I have never heard of the gullwing motion described as “sliding doors” but I guess they sort of do.
First C4 ZR-1 made 375 hp in 1990. Fun fact, the V-6 Camry made 153 hp that same year.... so the ZR-1 made almost 2.5x what the Camry made.
I owned a modern TDI for a few years. Started up easily in negative 10 and drove just fine.
Sliding doors?
I think he is referencing the fact that if the project is not your daily, you don’t have to stress about timeline on repairs.... assuming you have the space....
