Like anywhere, it depends on the town you’re in and who you hang out with. I’ve lived in the Metro Detroit area all my life and have to say it’s pretty friendly to everyone. If you’re moving to right around the city of Detroit, you’ll be hard pressed to find these kinds of asshats in quantity without driving at least…
Invalid plate? Last time I was stuck behind this gentleman on Woodward Avenue, there was no plate at all. Or rear bumper. I can’t imagine it’s even road legal.
At least with the wheels so far forward, there’s visible irony in that every time he makes a right turn, he swings really far left.
I don’t know about that SUV, but reading that except brought back memories of learning to wrench on my 73 Super Beetle with that book in the early 80s. If I could, I would have driven that car to Taos just to have it break down in front of his garage.
It’s never too late to get a copy! I learned to wrench with that book in the 80s and still enjoy perusing it. The writing is inspired and the illustrations make it complete.
My dad, a pre-boomer, remembers the year he turned 30 was the same year the boomer mantra “don’t trust anyone over 30” became a thing. What goes around, I guess.
