:( Nothing to say other than I hope for a fast recovery for her. The world could use much more of her.

He may not have called them bitches, but he sure as hell didn’t respect them. I will never understand the Hefner apologists - it is no coincidence that Cosby and Hefner were best buddies and at least one of the Cosby rapes happened at the Playboy Mansion.

THIS. He took objectification of women to the next level, in a society where that was already the accepted norm.

I will never understand this dude’s popularity with women. The man basically kept a creepy babe-zoo in his house and only supported ‘women’s empowerment’ as long as it fit his idea of women being naked and not being ~prudes~ about it. If literally any other man did this, would we applaud him for being an ‘icon’?

How does a person with a functioning brain not know how to clean?

How much does it cost to heat that fucker? Man that’s a waste of money and resources. Maybe they’ll just wear sweaters?

Society allows white men to make mistakes. Women and POC not so much. It was never about her emails. Just like how people aren’t really mad at the kneeling for the national anthem. They’re mad that black men are being uppity.

I will love him forever if he gives incriminating evidence on Ivanka.

Yeah this has been a huge concern of mine as a fan with a small child. I think at a certain point you just have to sacrifice those great seats in the interest of safety until the kid is old enough to wear their own glove and pay attention.

“Most corner stores are dirty, over-priced, lack variety, and frankly are terrifying to go into

Or, conversely, they buy into the idea that every man deserves a sexual partner...but their opinions of women drive them all away.

Not nessessarily. There are PLENTY of men who have revenge fantasies involving “replacing” women with sex dolls and getting sex dolls that look like heir ex so they can “keep having sex with her” without her consent.

I hope you’re right.

I promise this is the right choice. I totally disagree with this review having seen the whole season. I feel like the reviewer missed that the main theme of the season is women, even when there is the superficial appearance of “having control” of our bodies in all kinds of ways, don’t. That our bodies are still

Thanks, while I think the U of R response is pretty tone deaf, and I have not read the Mother Jones article, so I am not going to make any forceful opinion about this particular case. But in general there is considerable sexism and harassment in academia and hopefully this does NOT take away from that no matter the

Considering that I have worked both in and out of academia, it is my personal experience that it is not at all the same.

The crazy thing is, this isn’t even really a case of sexual assault, it’s sexual harassment of students and employees in a professional academic setting. A lot of it isn’t really in question too, there are emails, message transcripts, of how this one professor interacted with his students and female colleagues, which

Aren’t they pretty substantially different accusations? The UVA story alleged a gang rape, I think. U of R’s issue is that female grad students and employees are being sexually harassed, not necessarily sexually assaulted. The fact that they can’t seem to grasp the difference shows how little they care.

I’m glad these people came forward. Academia needs to do more to examine its culture. I believe this situation isn’t just a result of toxic sexism and male entitlement and female intimidation, this also a result of the generally toxic culture of academia.

Until evacuation orders actually include physically moving people, saying “if you stay, you’re on your own” is not fair. Gas stations had no gas, flights out were canceled. This isn’t Harry Potter—people need to be able to leave to get out.
