As satisfying as that would be, it would do real misservice to people with mental illness to lump Donald Trump’s evil behind in with them and simultaneously make his behaviour the symptom of an illness rather than just plain evil.

This is why I was shocked at first to see him in a picture with a woman with any thigh flesh!
I still don’t quite get the idea that the company didn’t want to seem to be capitalizing on the political situation last year. Surely stepping forward with this information would be a very positive step in such an atmosphere. Were they concerned that the redneck constituency would hate the idea?
And polo shirts.
How about the dude who claimed that the Confederate soldiers in cemeteries were US military? They were emphatically NOT. We have given too much space to incorrect historical narrative so that ignorant fools like this run with it and use it to unite.
The shadow from the bridge highlights the scenario perfectly. She’s about 1 foot to the right of the man he passes first and he has plenty of room to move past her without bumping into her. This also isn’t a shoulder bump because he uses 2 hands across his body to shove her (i.e. not accidental in any way). How…
Could it be because he has shown great acuity on many other issues but this seems to be willful ignorance? For the benefit of a not-great punchline?
Do we expect magazines about fashion to take this on? Do GQ and Esquire discuss topics like that any more than Vogue and Cosmo?
Regulations, while not perfect, tend to exist for a reason.
Don’t forget that women’s magazines have been talking about very serious issues (e.g. abortion) on the sly for years. They have just been largely ignored or dismissed as fluff.
I recently had the most horrid dream that my 4 year-old daughter had died and I had a perfect robot recreation of her, except it could not age. It was wrenching. A week later and I still shudder to think of it.
Is it just me, or has he seemed a bit more off the rails lately? Are his handlers too busy testifying before Congress to keep him on task?
Our scholarly association (the Society for Classical Studies) was actually moved to release a statement on the use of Classical antiquity by the far right. Not VDH, but on a spectrum. You are right to be “itchy”.
Kim, my mom named her dog Sushi 11 years ago. And we dressed up my dog as a piece of sushi for Halloween 4 years ago. Waaay behind the curve.
I drank red wine and coke one evening with my Romanian friends. No hangover, shockingly.
In some heavy whites (think oaky Chardonnay) it acts like melting ice in scotch and reveals subtleties. Just one cube though, and not the nasty ones that taste like everything in your freezer.
For the first few seconds, all I could think was “Look up!” This is delivered like a student presentation.
The police in Seattle have a long-standing problem with excessive use of force paired with racism. Police in Seattle have shot a deaf indigenous man for holding a carving knife (woodworking), beaten Latinx people while making racist comments, etc. For a while, I believe that the SPD were taken over by the Feds. The…
More like Oedipus. All signs pointing to the obvious but willfully ignore it. Citizens suffering from a plague of his own making. And if we count Oedipus at Colonus, blind and being led by his daughter.
I am in the middle of reading through an email chain from a listserv of Classicists, many of whom are trying to argue that it doesn’t have gendered implications. Really? How much denial do you need to be in?
