With you on that...
With you on that...
There was also a nice bit of "she was asking for it" in the article. They quoted one of the women's initial e-mails to him (along the lines of "I'm 19 and I'm a pervert"), as though this is carte blanche to assault someone.
And it's terribly reductive of the experience of rape victims, who have a huge variety of responses and shouldn't be made to feel that a) they have become less "womanly" and b) they need to become vengeance-seeking harpies.
What are the ancient sources for this? What dates do they come from? Who wrote them? (All pertinent to claiming genetic heritage based on literary sources.)
Thank you for pointing out the sources! They are late and they are biased.
Went over the handlebars of one with a twist accelerator the first and only time I ever rode one. My instinct was to pull back (like the brakes on a regular bike) and flew right through a bush (leaving a me-shaped hole in the foliage). One of the scariest incidents ever.
Exactly. She wore it to a fashion insidery kind of event.
Having my mom there was awesome. Except when she was crunching on carrots during transitional labour. But she basically saved the day when my water broke and the baby was coming NOW. My husband was awesome but not quite as sure of what exactly was happening in the way that someone who's had a baby can be.
I think you're right about the shocking/not shocking aspect of this. It's just very hard to me that this is becoming acceptable (in a sense) and we're getting jaded to it. Maybe because I'm Canadian and most of my US time has been spent in the Pacific NW? And we really ought to be shocked at the violence in South…
Both of these (SPU and Cafe Racer) have me really shaken up. One a block from where I used to live at a place I used to go and one where I know a few faculty members.
Holy! Project much?
Ha! I just found a bunch of frozen pads while I was cleaning out the freezer!
My birth plan stayed in the car, along with everything else I had carefully prepared for giving birth. Babies and busy hospitals have their own plans, which is why I stained my dress and still had sunglasses on my head when she came!
High five for the 9 pounder! I've been there- way to go! (P.S. No matter how they arrive, it's worth some serious high fiving.)
In Goop's defense, at least it's free to play music to your water, as opposed to the $900 must-have basic white tee from her newsletter.
I think you're not acknowledging the difference between organic cultural syncretism (like the example of language) and appropriation by a more powerful group. It's one thing when cultures mix and there is give and take, but when one group takes something, especially something the other group has repeatedly asked them…
I teach at a university and while I do have "Oh my God you wore that to SCHOOL?" moments, I do my best to keep them to myself. If I really think about it, most of those are reactions to what female students are wearing and I refuse to take part in the "distracting" BS that this sign promotes. One of the most important…
I wouldn't have a problem with a professional school (which nursing is) having a professional dress code for all students. That is the correct context for that type of thing. But one that is so focused on how distracting women's bodies are? No thanks and not professional at all.
The BC government provides between 35 and 50% of funding to independent (i.e. private) schools.
This website is the reason my husband now understands why we need to add a baby premium to our regular tip (and I don't have to constantly add the extra as we leave).
