Can I just say that seeing my big strong husband snuggle with my fluffy bichon is totally attractive? And I've seen other women and men check them out when they're on a walk together, so I don't think it's just me.

As a dog-lover, and advocate of responsible dog ownership (of all breeds), I have to say that the whole nanny dog idea is a fairly recent invention. Pictures of dogs and babies don't even begin to adequately represent a breed's interactions with humans. If this were the case, then we'd have nanny gators.

I held off for years too- to the point that my husband had given me a coupon good for one dog for my birthday, and I still took 2 years to redeem it. And now that I have, I realize that waiting until I was ready made the responsibility of owning a pet seem much lighter than it would have otherwise. All 3 of us are

I will agree that pit bulls (as well as several other breeds) have gotten a bad rep due to irresponsible owners, but I still get nervous when I see one off-leash (and it's those very owners whose dogs are always off-leash). I don't know why so many people are insistent that their dogs be off-leash outside of

Exactly! Who do they think takes care of it? There's a walking trail in the forest behind my house and people always leave the bags hanging from trees! Come on!

Or check your potential school's insurance coverage. I'm a Canadian in grad school in the States, and I've been covered through my school. It's usually part of the funding package they offer you.

Something similar happened in Seattle a few years ago. I even think a couple of the guys from Deadliest Catch were involved. Kudos to all who made this happen!

Please read her autobiography, Letters to My Daughters. This woman is my heroine. Absolutely confident in every way and utterly incredible.

You wanted to move to CROATIA in 1992? I wouldn't have accepted you into my college either.

Reading some of the negative responses to therapy downthread makes me wonder if those experiences were more a result of poor accreditation practices (and the resulting poorly-managed therapies) than of the efficacy of therapy as a whole. Therapy takes many forms, and as others have already pointed out, its success is

If English was your second language, you're likely a good speller due to the fact that most people spell better in second languages. There must have been a study on this somewhere.

I don't think I've even sent 8000 text messages to my husband of 6 years.

Loving the stories on this thread. Just signed the official adoption papers on our pup today after two weeks of fostering. No personality match system at the shelter, but this guy has quickly turned into the king of our house and gone from being "puppy-like"(messes inside, lots of mischief) to his mature two year-old

Citing the LSJ just made my day! Philology FTW!

Does Cain know that historically most Western medical knowledge would

My favorite holiday surprise? It has to be Christmas 2002. I was in my early 20s and living in Japan. It was my first Christmas away from home and family. My whole family is seriously into Christmas, and I usually lead the holiday charge, so I was feeling pretty homesick that year. Still, I was determined to make the

CLIVE OWEN!!!

As the friend I was watching the show with said, Gretchen's clothes are what you want to wear on the first day of your period.

Clara Hughes is precisely the kind of woman that belongs on Jezebel. She just gave her bonus for getting a medal to a Vancouver charity for troubled kids, and after the last Olympics gave $10,000 to Right to Play. She is FANTASTIC!

Please, please don't use boiling water on your windshield! In addition to the potential to shatter your windshield, any spillage will freeze into a super-slippery spot. (It's no coincidence that zambonis use hot water to make ice in arenas.) Vancouverites try this all the time and it makes for some deadly winter
