As far as I’m aware, the acronym is just WAG, for ‘wives and girlfriends’, and the ‘s’ at the end is simply the plural. None of this ‘of sportstars’ bollocks.

Okay, a little context here. Woman’s Hour isn’t an interview, it’s a daily weekday hour-long programme on BBC Radio 4 that’s been running for donkey’s years - since 1946, to be precise.

This was national news in the UK, where it happened. It was in all the papers, on the BBC and so on. No just this little old blog over the pond ....

What’s all this ‘bleu cheese’ nonsense? It’s either ‘fromage bleu’ if you want to get all fancypants French, or the perfectly proper ‘blue cheese’, as used in the English language since the Middle Ages.
