We need a gaming Geneva Convention in which it is established that if an Easter egg hasn’t been worked out in 5 years, developers need to start dropping breadcrumbs. I hate to think no one will ever figure this Futurama thing out. The devs may not even remember at this point.

Sometimes an easter egg is just an easter egg.

Correct. The more powerful characters had a greater number of natural Ki bars (the long ones) vs the temporary ones (short ones). I believe they stored the same amount (numbers wise), but the major difference was long bars would fill up over time while the short ones required stopping to power up and would degrade

Isnt it known that Toriyama tends to forget that characters exist?

Now playing

That’s not how it always ways. In the early days of DBZ, Goku hated people getting hurt, was upset by his family being in danger, and worked to protect Earth. The longer things went on though the dumber he got.

This also is absolutely true. Goku is a lunatic who will give a senzu bean to Cell so he can see what his son can really do in a fight.

Not to say Goku isn’t doing it so his wife and kids don’t die horrible deaths along with everyone else on Earth, but Goku does what he does because he’s all about the fight. Protecting others is a distant second, if not a third. This isn’t a rip on him, just Goku has and will always be about fighting those who could

Couldn’t agree more. The layoffs between battles were always an essential part of Dragon Ball, the very same parts most “fans” refer to as “HURR DURR FILLER”.

To be fair this is focused on the Radditz portion of the Saiyan arc in DBZ, where Launch is still around. It’s not till after Tien dies that Toriyama forgets about Launch and she disappears.

Honestly the slice of life parts of DBZ were always my favorite element, because it gave the fights so much more punch when you knew what Goku was fighting for. So many other movies and anime have that “i’m fighting for my family” moments that ring hollow because they don’t spend the time that DBZ does building up

It makes no sense to get upset over imagery in a work of fiction until you know in what context the imagery is being used. Also, a depiction of a fictionalized world is likely to contain portrayals of real bigotry, especially one set in this universe, so it’s not appropriate to assume that just because bigotry is

Thanks for the informative and well written reply on my crappy joke. I appreciate you taking the time to add value to the conversation.

Although it makes sense for Blizzard to cater to what they believe their audience’s tastes are, one insider says that if Blizzard wants to be a force for change, they might have to make bolder decisions.”

What “bolder decisions” can Blizzard make other than having multiple gay characters in their game and fully

There’s a lot to unpack with all this, but to try and keep it short, there’s a lot of difference in what is considered socially acceptable or not, vis a vis Korea and the USA/others. Many things that in the USA tend to be associated with homosexuality in men, aren’t in Korea. Things like wearing makeup, holding hands

South Korea may be bad but I still think the number one enemy of diversity is the country murdering people for being gay. Maybe we shine that light there first and spread to the not-so-bad countries later.

How can a country whose main cultural export is beautiful boys be so uptight.

I mean, yeah, what’d you expect?

Million-/Billion-Dollar Corporations aren’t your friends. They don’t care about gay rights. The only reason they engage in this is because the year long market research made them determine that it possibly increases sales in their targeted demographic, plus the additional merchandise

Blizzard is showing a logic that is all-too-common among companies: any demonstration of principle or ideology has to pass a marketing test. Any definitive stance takes into consideration what their audience is and what they hope to accomplish.
