imho Robotech was responsible for the 80s anime invasion. Save your hate for Harmony Gold since it is they who are preventing macross from crossing over since they insist they have all the NA rights forever.

My understanding is that the very early days of Phoenix pretty closely followed the American Indian irrigation canals. But that was in the days when Camelback Road was the northern edge of civilization, and anything north of that was practically wilderness until you got to Prescott
This is my fave thing of today. Thank you for posting this!
I also hate how certain people are going to take this to fuel the "See! Raising minimum wages hurts the economy!" ranting.
And of course Star Wars was then obligated to visit the Muppets.
The Washington Post has a profile today of Dr. Jack Wolfson, an Arizona cardiologist and holistic medicine, uh, doer…
I think back in the 80s, a new Star Wars movie every year would have killed interest in the franchise in pretty short order. But our expectations of entertainment are different now, as are the way we consume it. This schedule makes the new Star Wars films more like seasons of an HBO series.
There may be some argument as to whether or not this is an actual 'twist' ending, but I always found the ending to the movie Se7en to be extremely effective.

An astronaut! Because I had always been intrigued by the solar system and space in general (The Magic School Bus Explores the Solar System was one of my favorite computer games as a kid). But by the time I got to HS I decided that going to space is a huge hassle, so I set my sights on doing air and space stuff from…
I wanted to be Indiana Jones, Jacques Cousteau, or Jack Horner (paleontologist). Which is naturally how I became to be a marketing consultant.
My parents still tease me about how, when in Kindergarten, I got on the stage in front of the whole school and proudly announced that I wanted to work at Blockbuster.
Archaeologist. The King Tut exhibit coming to town probably seeded it, but I was mostly interested in the Incas and Aztecs afterward.
I wanted to be an archaeologist. I still want to be an archaeologist. Unfortunately, reality intervened.
Sewers, hands down. Completely unseen by most but have radically changed the health outlook of every human being fortunate enough to live in area that possesses them. The ability to transport waste away from the population and treat it dramatically reduced the risk of lethal bacterial infections such as cholera or…
