I didn’t get the sense he’s talking about a solar powered car, by roof he means the roof of a building.

I’m pretty sure he meant he wants better looking solar panels for your house’s roof to be used in conjunction with the Powerwall, not a solar powered car/battery pack. At least that’s how I read it.
